The re-enactment of the battle will be held between a blue and a red team, rather than Britain versus France, in order not to offend the French.

Admiral Lord Nelson's great, great, great granddaughter on Monday said that was "political correctness" and "pretty stupid".

A good idea or political correctness gone mad?

Madness. They weren't all French anyway, it was a joint Spanish-French fleet ultimately answering to Napoleon.

Ridiculous, this politically correct liberalism must stop.
Question: When have the French ever been worried about offending the British?

It's pointless (the whole re-enactment that is).

Whether it's red vs blue or Britain vs france I don't care.

And do not forget the beady-eyed Spanish ;)

It is an opportunity to play games with a load of rare tallships, but as a reenactment it will fail because Nelson ordered close combat: ramming ships and synchronized broadsides, which just cannot be portrayed in a re-enactment!

Before this thing turns out to be another French bashing thread, people must be aware that French people are participating to the comemoration of the battle of Trafalgar. I think it's pretty fair play from the French side, don't you think ?

i thought you were talking about THIS its where people play halo while talking over it. its funnny. "best laid plans" under videos is the funniest.

Why cant they just do more WW2 re-enactments instead ?

 that makes me think of a maneuver we did the last time I server my annual military duty. In that scenario Germany was at war with Italy, but for political reasons we couldn't call them that. Instead they used "Northland" and "Southland" :D

And who won?

Things didn't go so well for the French the first time they "participated" at Trafalgar. ;)
