I have a situation which has arisen in a game I'm playing and poses an interesting problem.

Monarch Level - Random Map (turns out to be two massive continents) - 12 or 14 civs, can't remember - All victory conditions including Regicide

Very briefly: My neighbours, the Sumerians, are massive and advanced. They are number 1 civ, I'm third and gained 3 important cities off them in a forced but necessary war in the late ancient age. I got an alliance signed against them with number 2 civ the Hittites and they got all but destroyed by the already middle age Sumerian army. It's now early(ish) middle ages. The Sumerians have built just about every wonder worth building, much to my glee :p . In fact I've rarely seen one civ build so many significant wonders themselves [Pyr, HGardens, GLight, GWall, SisChap, Sun Tzu, KTemp!!!]

I'm the Arabs and I'm amassing an army of Ansar Warriors. I want those wonders and I want to take the top boys off their podium.

Like I say, they are advanced. They've been in the middle ages for a couple of hundred years and have proved the worth of their army against the Hittites. I've just got Chivalry and am updating my horseman army to Ansars. It's going to be long and tough taking the Sumerians out city by city. Thanks to my curiosity, I've got an easy get out clause with the Regicide victory condition which I threw in for the hell of it. In an earlier war I made my way not far from their capital and I could quite easily dash for that and kill their king. But there's a problem.

What happens to all the wonders they've built? Unfortunately the wonders are mostly built in different cities, only their capital has two and all the rest are in cities of their own.

If I kill their king will all the other cities just crumble along with the Wonders? What will happen to my rep? Oh it's a real tease this one.

When you kill the king, all their cities are destroyed, wonders included.

Your reputation won't be hurt, but all the wonders will be lost, and the other AI's will feel worse towards you because you were responsible for razing a lot of cities.

I usually play this level. But I have never played a non-Conquest scenario game with Regicide turned on. This killing the king totally changes the whole shape of the game. I'm really torn whether to go for their cities to get the wonders or just take them out in one swoop. Any advice is welcome.

Well, it's too bad that it's not Mass Regicide. That way, you can just hit the F7 key to find out which cities their wonders are in, and just take those first before bumping into the King.

Good, i was hoping that would be the case. Would you be up for joining a SG?

Don't be put off by the fact it's going to be an Emperor game as you'll be in the same boat as the rest of us.
