Replace site's java chat client with mibbit (ajax)

The problem is with your link. When you use it, notice how it has the ... in the middle of it. You want to get the actual full link, such as the one in your sig.

Also, mibbit allows for multiple channels to be joined at the same time, so you might just not be noticing the tab at the top of the window that has the other channel in it ;)

When copying link, it's best to right click and copy the link that way, since the forum automatically shortens link in the display. Here is the link from croxis's post:

http://embed.mibbit.com/?server=irc.irc-chat.net&channel=%23erebus&noServerNotices=true&noServerMotd=true&forcePrompt=true

ah, thanks for the replies. Till has done something Handy though, from now on, you can join #erebus with a simple click on my link in the sig! :)

Quick question to anyone who uses #civfanatics or #erebus or #nes or indeed #fiftychat: do you often get viruses or spyware etc. from use of these?

No. #fiftychat is ran on our own server by Till, and we have not had a single problem. #civfanatics, #erebus, and #nes are ran on another small server, and that server has had flood bots *very rarely*, but overall both servers seem secure.

I don't know much about this stuff, but I've heard that viruses/spyware/bots/etc. are mainly a problem on the big IRC networks. Both #fiftychat's server and #civfanatics's server are small and, in my experience, safe.

A server that is at least decently setup will give pretty much no possibility of viruses or spyware. If you DCC things regularly then your chances will significantly go up, but that is similar to downloading files randomly off the internet.
