Replacement(s) needed for 16-civ Rocky Pangea pitboss

Cannot get access to game (stuck at "Connected to peer.." ). No need to pause the game once fixed, as I should be able to play later.

Yeah, I am getting the same "Connected to peer ..." but not really :mischief:

No need to pause for me either, because ... well, nothing I do from here on really matters anyway!  ;)

End your turn US, respect the turn order. :p

So sadly i've been forced to double move you, wipe out your stack and nuke your capital. have a nice day ;)

Sorry gang, but I am calling it quits in this one. Due to waning interest, I have let 3 of the last 5 turns lapse without maximizing my moves, so Rome's front door has been left wide open. I am also not interested in dragging out my certain demise by slaving myself into oblivion, as that's been proven to not be fun for anyone. ;)

I've converted Rome to AI if anyone wants to get some practice. If not, I'd like to offer congrats to USun and Rusten on what seems like a pretty solid Permanent Alliance victory. Very well played, you two!

I don't agree. USun and Rusten may have the #1 score position at the moment but there are at least two competitive teams still in play. It seems a bit premature for you to be declaring the winner, and turning such a large civ over to AI at this stage is really not fair to the other players.

I understand if you aren't having fun, but out of respect for the other players, could you try to find a replacement or continue playing until you do, please?

I've paused the game until we get this sorted out.

I could jump back in, if it helps. Just send me the login data. It seems that it won't be for very long anyway.

Sorry about that, Munro. I'll admit that it was my own ignorance of the late game that started giving me fits. I was not aware that a PA could only involve two civs. Had I known that, I would have been much more aggressive in dissuading you from a game which I feel was unfair for the rest of us. I mean, was the idea at the outset for the four of you to run the table on the rest of the world, then kindly cut ties, allow 10 turns of peace to secure empty core cities (of the former alliance) and let hostilities commence with the slap of a glove? And if so, would that mean having you and Elkad return the troops that helped keep you alive and are helping Elkad to burn through France right now? Or do you think they'll give you a crack at winning with the gifted troops?

My thanks to Calis for stepping in so you can fulfill your idea of destiny. Sorry that I'm not too pleased with that, and I take full responsibility for the lack of knowledge that brought me to this point :)

I'm not interested in continuing this, my goals are achieved. I'd like to thank Rusten, Munro, and Elkad for being great allies. Props to Donovan and slaze for stepping in and trying to keep this game interesting as long as possible.

Was your final goal to break my Quixotian resolve?

Seriously, well played by all. I'll admit I did have alot of fun trying to stay competitive with the four of you.

Something like that. I dunno that we had really discussed it that far yet. A runaway game, followed by people dropping out, was a possibility anyway. We actually delayed Assembly Line and backfilled a bunch of techs (theo, optics, astro, etc) to try to keep the game interesting for the rest of you.

Incidentally, my little stack of Cossacks are my own knights upgraded with my own cash, Rusten just pushed the button (and then forgot to give them back for 3 turns  ). Other than a short period at the onset of the war w/Munro when Rusten and I both gifted a bunch of Knights, I don't think any troop gifting has taken place between the 2 halves of our foursome. Certainly none since Rifling.

Once again a tech trading game combined with an early alliance and civ specialization has proved decisive.

I'm still having fun, but then I'm on the winning side.

Incidentally, I really like this 48hour turn clock. Seemed slow at the beginning, but it sure is nice when the wars get big.

Can't see any way for the foursome to lose.

I was going to continue playing out of respect for the game and other players, but after reading Elkads post, i'm going to kick my single city to AI.

Although i'll host as long as required, i'm keen to bin this game and start a new one.

Seems there is an open question on the table of whether Rusten, Munro and/or Elkad want to keep playing on with their civs to a decision (which would mean shopping for a USun replacement ... or maybe even additional replacements). Seems it would be a wrap up of two permanent alliances facing off.

If that is where the game is heading, then is does matter how the whithering civs play out the endgame, so the mass exodus to AI may not be desirable.

48 hour timer (which I like too) gives plenty of time to sort it out ... although I suppose a pause gives even more time? :mischief:

Edit: actually, USun+Rusten vs Munro, Elkad and DZ might be an interesting matchup ... with whatever subs may be needed to keep the civs running.

(Which would not include me as I need to taper off pitboss for a while ... medical specialty recertification due end of this year will keep me busy)

I wanted to log in to see the latest and ehh......... but it isn't as if this hasn't been sealed already, save some Munro/Elkad hail-mary toss. I was still playing on just to get clobbered ... darned AI. But no doubt about it well done USun Rusten, a consistant performance as always

Possibly premature but congrats to Rusten and U Sun on their victory.

I can understand why Munro would like to continue to play since he gave up a religious victory (via a permanent alliance with America) a while ago in order to play out some devious late game military strategy of his. It's too bad since we had the votes and all we needed was Munro to agree to let us spread Christianity to one of his cities. It would have been quite the upset! :)

Personally, I don't believe even the whole world ganging up on U Sun/Rusten would win at this point but that is just another example of alliances sticking together until its no longer in the weaker members self-interest. (We've already had this argument and I am not interested in opening up that can of worms. Just stating my observation).
