The thought just came to my mind - are we going to have any rules like no razing and no ROP cheating and if we are, will they also count against the AI?

We should allow razing. I would also like a rule against ROP rape against the AI. RoP rape against another human player though...??? Sure! :satan:

What about gifting cities to another player? Say...you are going to lose a couple of cities on another continent no matter what, and you gift them to a neutral player to spite the conquerer. Opinions? I've been on both ends of this problem, and while it is a gratifying practice for the loser, it is very frustrating for the victor.

I have no opinions on rules other than, should this not have been decided prior to the game starting !! ??

Surely you cannot expect to force rules on players who may not agree, now the game is underway.

No but if everybody agrees a rule then there should be no reason not to. And the game hasn't progressed so far that it would be unfair to anyone in particular to make certain rules.

I was just asking anyway, not trying to force any rules :)

Sure Theoden, no problem with discussion just that its normal to decide rules etc before starting a game :)

Ill give any discussion about agreements etc fair hearing :)

I definitely agree with no ROP rape against the AI, the AI have like no chance to win in this game, let's not stack the odds further against them i think that's 2 for no AI ROP rape.

As far as human to human i say any deals go, as far as the gifting cities when a civ knows they are about to be conquered, i think it fair that everyone should just be aware if you receive a city that I am outside of and about to take with my SoD and we have a peace agreement, i am taking that city anyway like it or not. trading / gifting cities is fine, but in times of war i think everyone should use common sense, it is more for the player who receives the city top think about than the player who gifted it and the repercussions of you having accepted the city. if everyone agrees to no gifting while you're about to be destroyed / captured then that's fine with me.

as far as making rules before a game starts, it would take forever to iron out all the rules / guidelines and it has always worked fine to discuss as we go and then go with the consensus, especially at this stage of the game.

My vote also goes for no ROP rape against the AI and I don't think resource denial should be allowed against the AI either.

I also agree about the no citygifting when about to be captured, but as Predesad said I would just take the city anyway.

no Rop rape against AI sounds OK so Ill agree to that, but city gifting when in dire straits I see no reason to make a rule against, as Predesad says it is for the player receiving to weigh up the risks etc.

basically concerning the AI, I feel there is no way to really enforce this or get everyone's total agreement, but I think there should be no exploits against the AI. We already discussed ROP rape, theoden mention scout resource denial, all those things the AI will let you do to them so you can wipe them out or make them a vassal or whatever, don't do them. If you want to wipe out an AI or take a few cities or claim a resoucre from them just do it fairly. That is my $.02.

To Chrisius :)

I also think that is the way to do it - use common sense. And AI's are not the only ones who judge other civs on their past actions in the game so there will be consequences for using exploits anyway.
