RevolutionDCM for BTS

Here is the Wolf Add On. it is applied by extracting the file in the same folder as the regular RevolutionsDCM mod, and selecting "yes to all" to overwrite existing files.

Pure, w/o super spies:

With Super Spies and must be added after super spies.

My personal mod. It's a work in progress though, and I keep tweaking things since I merged the Wolfshanze mod into it.

@Phungus
Thanks for the effort on Wolf. Someone is sure to pick up and run with it. Next war will be an addon for sure.

@Duuk
Yeah, Dom-Pedro's and Jdog's Inquisitors will make a comeback in the nextwar addon. Even though it is rather simpler than the WoC version, it's solid, brings in more enjoyment with very few side effects and it's Revolution's aware. The AI is good with it too. The DPII version will be good for now I'm sure of that. The idea will be to bring Inquisitors into Next War and Super Spies all in one. A combination like that will have very little impact on the purists and will be a hell of a lot of fun for the rest of us. I think super spies and nextwar will be excellent compliment to each other because espionage is so much more fun and interesting late game with super spies. Later, I will re-release Inquisitors independently. The problem is that RevDCM is not a WoC concept. Therefore if I add too many addon's, they begin to multiply exponentially the work load and also introduces many cross-compatibility issues.

@Keldath
Looking at the python error I think it's a bug in BUG at a guess. You have prompted me to check out the latest solid source forge version of BUG.

Cheers.

Rockin.

It's just that Revolution really does require Inquisition, especially on smaller maps.

I had not considered that about Revolutions on smaller maps. I see your point I think (because of seven religions more concentrated and co-existing in fewer but bigger and potentially unstable cities). The balance of Inquisitions that I have perceived thus far, has been on standard maps and larger. It will be interesting to see what you think on the smaller maps. The current Revolutions Inquisitions is concise and easy to adjust if required. The AI will conduct an Inquisition but is aware of the culture penalties and the like and will not do it automatically. What I have temporarily have forgotton about, is what is the behaviour of the AI inquisitor regarding conducting Inquistions abroad. From memory, Revolutions Inquisitions is more about nationalised internal Inquisitions for specific reasons, while WoC inquisitions has the ability for foreign Inquisitors to do work in other civilisations. I don't know of any historical parallel to such a concept.

Cheers.

Hi Glider,
I just wished to thank you for taking in consideration my suggestion to add Next War to your mod. In my opinion, this way the game gains a bit of lenght in the last phase without altering game rules, so I think no damage should be done.

I use to play using the great Sto's map script "Full of Resources" which let the game be fully customized and I like to add 1 or 2 starting tech to every civ. Doing this I speed up the game in the part where it is, imho, just a mere repetition of pressing "next turn" and focus the game in later and more complex/captivating stages.
Speeding up the beginning (with "Full of Resources") and prolonging the finale (with "Next War") I believe makes CIV really more enjoyable.

But I understand not all of us will agree with me so the add-on solution that Phungus suggested could be the best one.

All this just to say thank you very much for your work,
Bal.

@Balerion
Yeah no problems, cheers and thanks. "Next War for RevDCM" will be out in the next day. If it takes any longer we shall have to rename it the "Next Week" mod. I've been delayed because my computer turned nose up and died. Apparently the GPU got too hot. I now harass whoever has a spare computer so that work can be continued. My PC was very well designed to fail a few days after the end of the warranty period which is exactly what it did :eek:
Cheers.

RevDCM itself has had a small update (Dresdon's unofficial patch). Addon's for RevDCM are now housed in a seperate zip file. See the download section.

Addon's are:
Nextwar (including Super Spies and Revolution Inquisitions)
Super Spies
Revolution Inquisitions

Cheers and enjoy. Next war in particular should be good fun. ;)

great glider,
its very good that you keep those as an addon.
thanks for the hard work.

Thanks Keldath. The whole thing was slowed up by my GPU cooking half way through the build.

@anyone who is playing Next War for RevDCM
I forgot to include the Next War CvGameCoreDLL.dll in the Next War zip. If you want Super Spies to work properly with Next War, get the Super Spies DLL and replace the RevolutionDCM DLL with the Super Spies DLL, and Next War should be good. Last minute slip.....

Super Spies is the only addon that actually changes the DLL in case you are interested.
Cheers.

EDIT: Addon issue fixed

@Gekko or anyone
Revolutions Inquisitions is particularly interesting. There are still many possibilities for it in the context of the Revolutions mod. Check out the readme for AI behaviour as it is now and if you think it should change, post here or on the Inquistions forum.

@Any modders out there
Revolutions Inquisitions is a good basic study on how to introduce a new unit, give it functionality and add AI behaviour to it all without having to compile any SDK code. I'm not sure that the event driven model is 100% correct. Events that need execution are diverted to CvEventManager.py but these days events are handled by CvCustomEventManager.py. Thus Inquisitions may be out of whack with correct design in this respect. Also the whole issue about modular loading is not covered by the Inquisitions design approach.

@Any Next War players
If you have any suggestions on how DCM can integrate better with Next War, post here. Things like what Next War buildings should be air bombardable by DCM bombers for example. Is there an issue with the Manhattan project between Next War and DCM? I don't think so but you never know.

Cheers.

arr ... sorry for the noobness, but the readme for the add ons says that they are mutually exclusive.
So Can I add super spies on after adding, rev inquisisiton ?

@mice
Nah, can't pile one on top of another unless you do some of your own modding. Suggest if you want both, do Next War which is almost the same as standard civ except for the future era, and includes both SS and RI.
Cheers.

For anyone using the Wolfshanze add ons they should merge seamlessly with the new Super Spies or a pure RevDCM version. If there are any problems let me know.

I'm not going to update the wolf add on for the inquisitions version until Wolf releases the next Wolfenshanze version. So no inquisitions yet there.

If there is a problem though, I'll update the two existing add ons, but I expect them to work fine with the new RevDCM version.

@glider: Does the newest version include better AI .37 or is it .36? Also what is the difference in the two, I couldn't find any listed in the Better AI development board. .36 looks the same to me as .37...

Well couldn't you just make a seperate directory for each ie Mods\RevolutionDCM (for stock) Mods\RevDCMWolf (etc..) so that you don't have you unpack everytime you want to switch? Also, I've never tried the Next War but I like the DCM so this should be interesting to see how it plays.

Great work guys!

Your suggestion regarding directories is perfectly logical and valid but it is not the way it is. You could just rename the mod folder yourself when you are not using that particular build, and rename it back to RevolutionDCM when you are ready to go again.

@phungus
Yeah 0.37 Better BTS AI was uploaded by master Jdog a few minutes after I finished the RevDCM 0.36 upload. Better BTS 0.37 has Dresdon's latest unofficial patch which is already in the latest RevDCM 0.951 anyway. There might be a couple of other minor things, but most of it will be cosmetic. Jdog's been really busy having to deal with the unreality of real life and thus has not had a lot of time to work on the reality of the unreal Revolutions and Better BTS AI mods :D

Wonder how many people have been playing Wolf for RevDCM. It might be worth starting up a whole new mod section on CivFanatics for it, like the Rise of Mankind mod for RevDCM. However there is a bit of work involved to do that!

Cheers.

So far there have been 17 downloads for the super spies-Wolf add on, and 1 for the pure-Wolf add on.

I've thought about making a seperate thread for the Wolf Add Ons, but it seems kind of stupid for me to do it. All I'm doing is merging other people's work, it doesn't seem like it should warrant it's own thread.
