REXing?

i have heard people speak of REXing and im not sure what it is, i did a forum search but just got loads of threads mentioning it but not explaining it, i had a suspicion it stood for Really Early aXing but im now almost certain this is not the case.

I played two RPCs with CAthy focusing on REXing and do you know how tough it was to consistently NOT post it this way, even with many, many sexual inuiundos!

REX can be done very quickly, or simply blocking the AI off from valuable land while you more leasurely settle the other areas. The difficulty is that so many early cities can kill the economy, however once you recover you are playing from a position of power. Also in REXing the slider will NOT be near 100% unless you have a very strong shrine. Finally, you want to balance builds between science (libraries/universities/observatories and gold markets/grocers/banks).
