EDIT:
NEWCOMERS: There was previously a different version of this story, but the save got overwritten, so I ended up starting a new game and story.
Author's Note
Welcome, all. This is my third story, although the first two ended prematurely as complete fiascos. The story I am about to write will revolve around Britain, as the title suggests. I am hoping I will be able to carry out this story to completion.
I will be using RFC and v 1.7 of Leoreth's modmod, with my own modifications:
Speed = Marathon
I have been inspired by a number of other story tellers on this forum, but most especially Sisiutil, author of the spectacular tale Princes of the Universe. I will be adopting that style of story telling- this won't be an after-action report, it will be an actual, living, breathing story with characters and the like.
I will be taking some liberties- such as compressing events that take years and decades in the game into hours, days, or weeks (and more rarely, vice versa). I have always felt Civ treats the structure of nations too simplistically- i.e., all of the countries seem to be centralized nations of some sort, while history shows a far wider range of types of civilization. So I may divide up nations, or treat a country as a league of politically disjoint city states, or take other similar liberties.
Without further ado, then...

I will be using RFC and v 1.7 of Leoreth's modmod, with my own modifications:
- Colonial civs get reduced stability penalty for owning cities outside of the core area AND penalty for number of cities is halved (applies only outside of the Mediterranean (Portugal, Spain, England, France, Japan)
- Minor colonial civs get a reduced (but not reduced as much as that of the Colonial civs) penalty for number of cities (no reduced penalty for building outside of core area) (Netherlands, Vikings, Germany, Italy, Russia)
- In 1600 the following changes happen:
- Lagos jungle changes to forest
- Port Harcourt jungle changes to forest
- Colombo jungle changes to forest
- Gujarat jungle changes to forest
- Bandar Seri Begawan jungle changes to forest
- Manila jungle changes to forest
- Flood Plains spawn around Karachi/ Central Pakistan to allow Karachi to grow
- Fish spawns around Gujarat, Port Harcourt, Bandar Seri Begawan, Manila
- Clam spawns around Mumbai
Speed = Marathon
