RFCE 1.3 Playtest Feedback

Just add in code that makes it impossible for France to collapse or vassilize to another civilization when the Human is Scotland. Perhaps a few military units could also magically appear if France's capital is threatened.

Aight. Few words about Norway:
Just now finished playing Norway, accomplished UHV. svn 1162
Very interesting civ to play, but I had to finish playing it right after I finished UHV, because of instability. Norway, being scandinavian country, surrounded by unstable areas in Scandinavia (after Sweden spawn) and Denmark.
Denmark: (played in svn 1148)
Same to Denmark, significant part of Scandinavia is unstable, UHV demands to build few cities in those areas. Playing Denmark I didnt manage to accomplish UHV, as soon as I build a city it seceding to independents.
And Morocco:
Seems like some tiles there in deserts are not part of some province, they are not marked, but AI settling cities there and once I tried to take one of those, and had no any stability hit.
Maybe it's the reason why Morocco usually has a lot of stability, once I even have seen they captured few cities in Byzantine core, vassalized them and still had solid/very solid stability. Twas in svn 1148 too.

Scottish UHV2 is certainly unique, but in a way that is not really fun for the player. If France collapses or doesn't fight wars, you will not win as Scotland. One of these things happens often enough that I'm not very interested in tailoring my play to the UHV as Scotland.

imo, we should simply remove scottland. it doesnt add so much to the game and it would be faster also. true, it my opinion only, but i do not like them and barley played them do to small land and boring game, lots of end turn and wait for build something + constant treath from england or ruin them is also not fun.

Kiev: i consider myself as an old avarage player. i only made their uhvs on viceroy back in 104x svn's once. othewise just tried it. kharkov should have flip for sure. uu is sweet but you can have the sufficient production too late. simply cant focus on 2 thing at once. i advise to reduce lavra to 4 church 4 monasteries and 1 cathedral and also make it earlier, though no historical background for it. till ~1150 seems ok if stone is closer to core.

Playing as Bulgaria right now and everything is fine except after the Hungarian spawn Wallachia turns to an orange province and Banat even turns red. This is a bit annoying and makes it really hard to maintain a positive stability.

I'd like to know how one achieves 100 Faith points in a timely matter. I was spamming religious buildings and conversions all over the Balkans and cranking out Great Prophets for their Holy Works: I had only 51 faith points on the due date. Managing to settle Albania and capture Constantinople as well as Serbia is challenging enough, let alone accruing so many faith points in the limited time (need I mention the atrocious stability as well?). At least make Arberia and Wallachia historical or start them off with Engineering or something.

Oh, I'd also like to note, according to the Civilopedia in the RFCE concepts section, it says that faith points reset to 0 when you convert, but (maybe because the religion is preset at spawn now) my points were still -6 (I guess as a penalty for capturing Byzantine cities) when I switched to State Religion. That is clearly another unnecessary obstacle for achieving the goal. Could a solution be making it so faith points can't go below 0? I'd appreciate you looking into this.

Sure, will change it
There is no point of negative faith points in the mod

I wasn't even at the point of accumulating faith points. I would advise you to switch to State Religion before settling your first City. That way you are orthodox from the start (no conversion necessary) and you avoid going into anarchy with more than one city. Oh and settle that second settler in Serbia (or in another required province).
The problems I see with Bulgaria are: 1. You can't afford to lose your starting army, because you need all of them to conquer Constantinople. In my game I was extremely lucky for Byzantium had an army north of me. That allowed my Konniks to get experienced.
2. Settler production costs are really high. If you approach a badly developped Byzantium you can hardly get settlers out in time.

Maybe you could change the 2nd UHV to building The Round Church and X religious buildings. On the other hand Byzantium always builds the Round Church first...

The 2nd UHV is perfectly fine.
Spoiler :
You can get a lot of Great Theologians out of Constantinople which really does the trick.

Noticed people are arguing about Scotland and even asking to remove it. But I'd say, Scotland playing its role in the mod, important role.
At first they control area which potentially could be territory of England, and England is strong enough even without it. Trade routes provided by their cities give very decent commerce output by some reason, and in addition they almost never switch to mercantilism, meanwhile most civs do. They also selling crab and sheep :3
If someone really could be removed that is Morocco. It's really strange to see them sometimes as one of the leaders on scoreboard during all the game. Cities there are very productive, they have a lot of military sometimes aswell.
At least I'd prefer to see that area colonised by Portugal or Spain or both, but not some centralized local power which living in prosperity during all the game.

Don't worry, Scotland stays
Also, the Maghreb was a way more powerful and wealthy area than most people think
So Morocco also stays. You are right though, Spain and Portugal should be more eager to expand there

The problem is not the Scottish; the problem is the Scottish UHV2, which uniquely and critically depends on the French AI behaving in a certain way: fighting wars, but not losing wars.

Don't Novgorod and Prussia also start with civics without the required techs and would switch out, do they?

It is possible to do that but that requires some coding. Venezia starts with Merchant Republic as UP without having the tech.
