I dont think the free walls the AI is supposed to get on higher difficulty is working. Is it something you have noticed too?
Also to make the AI settle more cities I tried giving the AI 2 extra settlers. But only some nations get these, others get just 1 and some none at all at game start. Very confusing result I must admit.
 
I've been playing with 26 civs in game. AI engages in too many wars with multiple civs at the same time to fight a single war effectively in Modern Age. It makes the game easy to just stomp AI civs with their forces stretched. Maybe civs should aim for peace to get their military #'s back up and rebuild their pillaged cities. Not sure if multiple alliances or the ideologies system affecting this.

Yeah, the ideologies system seems to do a lot. I don't really know how to improve it. People have different opinions of what is ideal. Really, the AI being able to use planes effectively would be a nice start.
 
So how much does this make game more challenging for you?
Immortal proved too easy for me, thinking of Deity next time but with this mod maybe try Immortal one more time?
 
I will be updating after the latest patch. There were several AI changes, and it will take some time to evaluate it all.

A busy week at work, and kids going back to school, I will try to find time today to get some of it done.
 
I've gone through it a bit. I don't see anything jumping out that would be useful to change. The base game Ai fights each other more, doesn't get wonders as frequently, lots of stuff. The modded AI focuses more on building, wonders, far higher yields. It really needs human feedback to adjust with the new patch, there's nothing inherently in the code we have access to that has changed, but certainly in the DLL i see they've fixed several things like Independents fighting again. So I'm unsure of what to do here.
 
Does the AI even use bombers or fighter jets?
Extremely rarely, it is very broken and badly setup. I've made it so ai makes aircraft more often, so it will show up, but not enough or even moderately reasonable.
