Rhye's Catapult

Levels:

If we want less, maybe 4 is enough:

1. for introduction (very easy)

2. on par, when AI has no advantage (easy)

3. the level we think the "target" is /i.e. "Emperor" or "Prince?"/ - moderately hard

4. the masochistic level - very, very hard

EDIT: but maybe we need that many levels as we have now ;)

Well, Elhoim, I am glad to have some support
Maybe one day we will have this, as a version of the Catapult perhaps...

It would be like a Total War game. Which is fine by me... :)

Anybody playing the game for "real" now? Can we read some "stories"? :)
Well you can read a page or two ago a long description of a game I had. Meanwhile I think of waiting to the version where you can play as rome or arabia starting at the right time.

038 test in the ninth century...

Persia was destroyed very early by the Barbarians. China has expanded and has 4 cities with a population of 12 or higher!

India was the founder of Islam, Egypt Hinduism, and Jerusalem Judaism :)

Greece expanded to the north initially. The Middle Eastern barb cities kept them at bay, so the greek settlers boarded ships and headed to the British isles, settling a city in or around Wales (which became the English capital). Rome expanded like normal, yet their 4th city was founded acros the Alps in southern Gaul (which became the French capital).

Spain settled Madrid in the correct location as did Germany and Russia.

I like moving jungle chop to Biology...keeps the pacific island expansion to the correct period. I still fel that Mongolia starts too late now. By the 12th century, the mongol hordes were terrorizing the middle east and were soon to be on the doorstep of Europe IRL.

To throw my 2 cents in for the late starts, I would also like to see this as a scenario in action, but i think in the interest oif loading times we should offer it as a seperate version of the mod.

The map is coming along great IMO keep up the good work!

I'm going to download the mod and try it.

038

Playing my real game as Hutsy I met Saladin: he has no techs! :(

The game is otherwise quite enjoyable, I am leading, learning Chemistry in 770 :D
Well, maybe this is not that funny - balance wise...

EDIT
Spain also has no techs...
(I could sell her Archery)

Playing as Asoka, difficulty the middle one (don't remember the new name).
I'm about in 1750 and culturally winning in about 40 turns, having stopped developing new technologies with the Medias.

Persia spawned and got devoured by barbarians pretty soon, now their land is Indian. The power players are China and Egypt, followed by Rome and France.

I got into trouble when China tried the invasion with Japan around 1500, they had a throng of units.

038

1400

I have democracy and so I swithed to modern civics.
Just this turn I put my first colony in SOuth-America - I did not hurry with that :D

Asia is in turmoil:
Asoka against Tokugawa
Huang against Cyrus

I started a game as Asoka. I'm easily winning for now (duke), however in 675 BC my city of Bangalore became the persian (new civ) capital and all my workers (which were working inside Bangalore's cultural borders) became persian.
Is this intended ?

I will play test one of the civs. What level do you think Soma? Duke? Prince?

I play tested India and Rome in previous versions.

Perhaps I'll try Japan this time.

Try Prince :)

On Duke, I had Democracy in about turn 265, in 1400,
while China is behind by 3-4 techs, India behind by 6-7... imagine the others...

Yeah, Duke is too easy. PLaying as Japan. I got three religions, most of the early Wonders and have expanded into several pacific islands as well as Korea.

I have noticed something though.... It appears that while jungle chop is at Biology, I am able to chop if building a plantation earlier than having acquired Biology.

Persia was once agian detroyed early, this time Arabia conquored the middle east while Greec was relegated to SE Europe.

China, India and Arabia are the leaders along with Japan (me).

All of Europe is Hindu, while Asia is Tao.

I have tried to play as England on Prince. I am 5-7 tech forward of all the others, yet the army France starts with is insane(it were about 6 longbowmen and 5 axemen and a few horsearchers, note the world hadn't discovered the techs required for making longbowmen), but mayby its just me:) Ive progressed peacefully and made a settlement in Norway and in Ireland, apart from England, Scotland and Wales.

Ive tried 3 times to play the map and it always ended up with that the Greeks start Hinduism and since they are placed in the middle of all the civs, then it spread to all them, in my current game he has a huge advantage, having 6-7 civs under his sway.

But untill now the game has run fine and has been quite entertaning.

whohoo! :)

My Egypt game is in the late industrial era in 1575, so I will begin anew,
trying to pick a historic situation with Rome ;)

That lion can be the trademark of the game!
Shouldn't we call the game Rhye's Lion, then? :D

Anyways, I was waaay excited to see the coountdown of turns on the big black screen,
and YES, in 2 mins. 45 secs I got there, teleported into history with me as Caesar!

Who would have thought it was possible with Civ4 to make such a start?
:king: Rhye :king:
