Rhye's of Civilization - the fastest loading mod Expanded - PART II

ARGH!! Does anyone play England?? I just found out how useless the Man-O-War is now. One tech (maybe 2, depending on how you researched) away is the new "Ship of the Line"! I researched earlier than my enemies, but by the time my navy was up, the enemy had punched ahead in research, and I could not kill 1 stupid ship of the line with 4 Man-O-War! Man, I hate to say it, but I'm a big fan of playing England. There is just no way this mod works for me anymore. It has a ton of stuff I'm going to miss, most importantly the different graphics for the different style basic units, and the inclusion of Israel. I'm going to have to figure out how to mod the mod if I want to play it.

=$=

I am just curious as to why you would be using a transport ship (Man-o-War) to attack a offensive ship (Ship of the Line). A Man-o-War is primarily a transport unit, more powerful version of the Galleon. There is nothing better as a transport unit, until you actually get the "Transport" ship.

How do you play the basic version? I downloaded the combined 1.23 version, and it says it's both basic and expanded when I choose the scenario, but I don't see a way to choose basic - and it always starts expanded. Thanks.

hey, don't remember if anyone remembers me from the first challange. I've been offline for a bit now, graduated from college, started a new job, moved to a new local, and been generally busy. Havn't had much time for games recently. Hopefully I'll have time to continue doing the challange type stuff. Until I can post again, peace.

waiting rgc4

actually a delay could savemy life, since I have absolutely no time for nothing (and with an rgc going I'd forfeit sleep for days...)

No need for me to say this (because it goes without saying), another great scenario by Rhye. [offtopic] P.S. I have no problem with mullets  , I have a few relatives with them. I even had one at one time until my parents paid me to get it cut  [offtopic]

I think I asked this a long time ago, but how do you get rid of the small gold diamond in the middle of the terrain?

 did you see my photo too, or you just read my subtitle?

I think we all want to PLAY the mod and not test it, so... *sigh*

In the spirit of "senzeni na," self-sacrifice-for-the-group, I'll playtest. Email me the details/files/contact info/whatever else, and I'll get started right away. I'm really not that busy with school, and have up to six hours of free time a day now. :woohoo:

I came here after so long to report the ONE THING I found that doesn't thrill me about RoCX! Forgive me for being so excited, but it's amazed me that I could never point out something that wasn't perfect! I want the time intervals to be longer, MUCH longer. Ancient Age is kinda boring, but I wouldn't mind it so much if it meant longer use of units in every other age. It always seems like my units hardly get any chance to move or be used when I keep up with the AI on Emperor. My mass upgrades of attack units usually skip a whole unit, and the operations one performs are never really that in depth. Wars are still decided mainly by who's got the best units, so maybe if the research pace was slowed down AND the game given more turns, it would have a chance to get REAL interesting in every age! One wouldn't be stuck upgrading units so often.

But this is on the back-burner until Rhye no longer needs testers, that'll be priority #1. :goodjob:

Well, this comment is a bit late you know ;) If it came exactly one year ago, it maybe would have kept me from adding "frivolous" additions and I'd have keepd the game simpler. But that was 2004. Now it's 2005 and I'm already writing algorithms for our next Rhye's of Civilization.

About RGC, I thank you for you sacrifice. After all, you'll play it before the others, isnt it? ;)
Are you registered on ICQ or YIM? If you aren't, please do. We need to chat to work it out.
EDIT: I've just seen your mail. see you in MSN then

Wow, Rhye, nice that you are "writing algorithms"
we all know what that means! :)

And here I would like to express my utmost wish to join the project -
as a tester, perhaps giving my two cent ideas, too...
