oh my, I really should really stop reading and posting this late at night...
Anyway, it should be either Sci/Rel or Agr/Rel...
my nation has nothing to do with commerce really... The whole trader thing is a now-obsolete stereotype started in Europe in the middle ages and on till the world wars... At that time the jews in Europe were very commonly traders. This is actually one of the causes for pre-nazi antisemitism.
Scientific is a much more suitable trait to pair with Religious, for a couple reasons. As I said, the pursuit of knowledge is practically sacred in Judaism, and modern Israel was a very major player in the whole High-Tech thingy back when that was big (and it still is here... iirc, one of just a few Intel factories in the world resides here, and the Pentium 4 processor was developed there.)
 
If we speak of modern Israel I agree, but it could even be Militaristic....Although we can say that Israel "produced" a lot of culture, I don't remember Hebrews being at the top of the technology just like for some other civs that have the scientific trait, except nowadays, as I've said. The now-obsolete stereotype has been true for centuries, right?
 
Just a thought! Make the Hebrews American friendly. So maybe don't give them Middle-east culture or do something with relationship towards America.

I think the Maccabee should use both sword and bow, and be an ironless swordsman with defensive bombard.

iirc, it's not that they chose to be traders or wanted to or even that they were that good at it... It's just some antisemitic laws in Europe forced them into it... And it was in the age and place where we had no national home, so it's really unbefitting for a civ that's supposed to represent us as a unified nation...
If you don't wanna give us Scientific, Agricultural is good as well, since we live in a desert and have been using it agriculturally since forever... Both in ancient Israel and in modern Israel...
 
I'm not convinced too much that a quite nomadic population has an agricoltural trait, but if you're so sure...

by the way, Hebrews refers to the religion, and Jews to the race, right?
If this is right, shouldn't the noun and adjective be Jewish and Jews?

Not quite nomadic... The nation you wanna put in the game represents the times when we were an organized nation (the ancient Kingdom of Israel, and the modern State of Israel.) And archaeologists are saying that we never really went to Egypt and all that.
I still think Scientific is better suited than Agricultural, but it's your choice of course...
Just note that the civ didn't have to have been necessarily the world leader in technology to be scientific... It just had to have a longing for knowledge... You can cripple Israel's economy via LM terrain and have that fix in the modern age (with the discovery of Computers I would suggest).

It's the other way around, Jews refers to members of the Jewish faith, Hebrews refers to the nation. (Unless you're an antisemite or a jew, then you use Jews for both. =S)
Name of the civ should be Israel, noun should be Hebrews, adjective should be Hebrew.

OK. I'll make them scientific, hoping that it is appropriate for both ancient and modern. I'm still not convinced, but I trust you and think that you'll know this better than me.
I'll swap Babylonians to Sci/Agr instead of Sci/Rel

As I've said I didn't know, because we Italians use the same word "ebreo" for both the meanings.

What is 2.52 or 2.60 will be released :) ?

If you add Israel, what you remove ?

I suggest to remove America for add Siam and rename Iroquois to Sioux (a very crippled nation of central north america)
 
2.60 will be released, hopefully tonight, and it will contain Israel, replacing Sumeria.

Then, an alternative version with Sumeria (which in fact is the 2.52) will be released.

Removing America and adding Sioux is planned for an alternative version
 
Here is a solution for all! Remove America and add Israel and leave Sumeria. Yes the Middle East will be a bit crowed with power struggles but thats the way it is and was all through out history! North America only having 1 Native Tribe is a good Idea. This will keep them technology week and leave wide open for the European Colonization!

The number of alternative versions is raising too much, you're right.
I'm going to fix once for all the discovery of America problem, so that I can drop the 500 turns version. I thought that the cause was that Portuguese and Spaniards lagged behind in tech. But once happened that America was discovered in 1600 and they weren't behind. This time I'm trying powering the Zulus: if the space in Africa runs out, they'll try to find America earlier (I hope).

About your solution, how can you play with Israel + Sumeria + Babylon? You only need Hittites to play with 1 city each. And you must face msot of the people that want America in.
 
America is just not historical. It really ruins the flavor of the game. America was Spain,Portuagual and France and England and the Dutch!!! Let them Colonize and fight it out and make a new history... This will add much more fun and gameplay ability!

Adding America is just wrong... It doesn't make sense on any level.

PS... Haven't played a fully game in awhile and can't remember if I come to turn 400 and the game ends is there a conitunie feature so that I can continue conquering the world?
 
Heres an Idea why don't you release the mod with my suggestions about just removing America and see after playing it what people think? I believe they will come to love the idea of racing to America to Colonize.
