DyP had huge problems with the AI building hordes of balloons and using them as an airforce. It took months to work it out. I know because I was a tester for it.

I like the idea of the balloon, but I recall DyP having such a unit with an appropriate animation, so why draw it yourself?

Because it sucks!

Errr... The one on the right is real nice, I'm assuming the one on the left is the one used in DyP... =X

The balloons could bomb, and I think the AI took a liking to them because they were cheap and they could bombard pretty well, even though they were automatically shot down by any air defence. So they'd end up losing hundreds upon hundreds of balloons to the human player.

You can PM Kal-El about it. I think that they eventually fixed it. I don't really know, though, because DYP games took a really long time and I rarely got past the Medieval Era.

I like how it doesn't take too long to play a ROC game. I actually make it to Industrial and Modern times.

OK. As long as the AI doesn't use them as substitutes for Fighters and Bombers, which is really bad.

Can you make that balloon into a unit, or is that beyond your graphic editing ability?

i tried playing this mod, threee times, and i quit each time before i got out of the anciant era. I played as the Byzantined, japan, and england. Each time i was hopelessly behind in tech, military, culture, and empire size. Is there something im doing wrong? Casue when i played as the Byzantines, all the land around me was taken very raipidly.

Those are three fairly difficult civs to play as. If you're having too much trouble, try playing as Rome, China, or Germany. They're much easier.

What difficulty level were you playing? Many people say the mod is too easy ;)
There are some strategy guides here (including the one for the Byzantines and England):

The preview I've posted above isn't the baloon as I've found it: it was the final result.
This was the starting picture:

This mod sounds like the best ever; I'd love to play it but have been unable to so far. I unzipped the 4 newest files to Civ/conquests/scenarios and RoC showed up in my list of scenarios. But it crashed when it was uunable to find some kind of ancient temple(?). I have C3C 1.22; what am I doing wrong? Thanx for any help.

Did it crash ingame or when starting a new game?

AA, I have played all three of the ones you have mentioned very successfully, so if you want I can help you on it.

You basically have to get used to the strange tempo of the mod before you can really get into it ;p

yay class

I am not sure what you mean by testing it when I cant run the map yet. Should I insert them into a real game and see what happens?

OOps! I forgot to add "Rhye's of Civilization X" to the paths.

Well, not a problem, this afternoon or tonight I'll send you the new version with the fixes, civilopedia icons and it is playable.
I'm looking forward to it.

I did a little bit of testing on the Grand Armee. It doesn't work coming from leaders... yet. I think it's still possible, though.

I sent you an email with a slightly modded biq that gives the French 30 Elite MA vs 90 Dutch regular Warriors to start. It's good for testing the Grand Armee.

It's definately possible for different civs to have different army units, I know it's been done in the WH mod and others.
