Ok, enough already. The game goes back to the shop tomorrow. I've wasted enough time on it. It is only a game after all, and one I thought I might like playing. Ho hum. The safedisk issue in particular for me looks insurmountable. Official tech support is like trying to summon the dead, and I've already spent too much time on myriad dodgy fixes (no offence to people here who have tried to help) that make no difference.

The fault lies with the developers. Other companies manage to release software that works properly and does not assume the customer to have criminal intent. I would suggest the people behind this make that a priority, rather than issuing self-congratulatory press releases aimed, presumably, at impressing their shareholders. I wonder if they bother to read these forums.

Actually I've stopped wondering. Maybe when the game has been properly finished, playtested and is in the bargain bins, I will come back to it. Until then I'm sure I can find something better to do with my life.

I agree this game has been much more trouble then its worth I had less trouble installing and playing expansion from Everquest then I have this damm game. I purchased it a week ago and still only been able to play it for about 3 hours total. I expected to be able to buy it and play it just like the last 3 I purchased , I wonder if they could face any legal liabilty for this crap they are putting everyone thru sure they broke some law somewhere selling a product that does'nt work like they say it does . Hell the 60 bucks I spent on this game I could of sucscribed to 4 moths of Warcraft and had alot better time (I also play World of Warcraft on my PC with no problems at all and the spec's for it are way higher then CivIV). I will probally be returning my copy to the store friday if they haven't release a patch to fix it by then.

the same over here. I stopped to play Wow, just to buy this %$#%^$ product (game or not ... I dunno, coz it crashes b4 I can do a anything ... so I cannot tell).
It was the last time I bought any of Fraxis miracles
