[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

The reveal of the R&F expansion feels like it just a few weeks ago for me. Time is moving fast....
We've managed to wait for two months, so right, these ten days aren't going to be too long. And after these ten days, a great reward will come! :D

To be honest, the thing I can't wait for most are Mongolian themes :P

Mongolian Throat Singing is your favorite music genre? :p

Civ music in general is my favourite music genre :P

The thing that I like about Mongolian themes is that like Scythia and Japan, they sound darker and not crazily happy (Kongo and Brazil :crazyeye:). Their themes were great in Civ V, and after Geoff Knorr released the First Listen for Mongolia, I was really amazed with Industrial and Atomic versions of their theme. That's why I can't wait to hear their full versions!

I also really want to hear Korea, Scotland and Georgia.

But not the Cree? :p
I can see why people dislike the Cree themes, but I'm used to Native American chanting, and the instrumentation gets more diverse as the era progresses. A lot of the secondary ancient music for the Cree also has vocals, based on what I've heard in the Youtube videos/livestreams. :smug:

Well... the Cree... okay, Industrial and Atomic aren't that bad. They actually sound really good in the First Listen :P

I'm prepared this time... not taking the day off from work until @Gedemon 's giant earth is updated, no matter if it kills me.

I hope that R&F won't break YnAMP then, because I'm not convinced to buy it yet, and I wouldn't want to share the responsibility of your death with whoever may have broken the mod's compatibility on Firaxis side !

I want to see 3 American Civs next expansion but I would rather have Bolivar leading whatever they feel like he should lead instead of the Incas. Venezuela, Colombia, Gran Colombia, even Bolivia, I don't care, just give me Bolivar. For Central America I want Haiti lead by Toussant Louverture AKA Black Napoleon. Nothing against Mayas but I like Haitian history. North America I have no preference but I think they need to fill the west coast.

I really don't think E/SE Asia will get more than one Civ, maybe even none. That region was well treated in the last DLC and R&F, so I think there's enough room for 3 American Civs.

But not the Cree? :p

While I can appreciate the authenticity of the Cree chanting, I'm not a huge fan of how they sound if I'm being honest. Could grate on me to listen for too long.

Don't put the Cree in your games then, also don't play as them. :p Problem solved!
Firaxis should give the player the option to disable certain Civs, even the non-DLC ones.

Oh, it won't stop me from playing as them or against them or even having their theme playing. I just think it would bug me slightly if I listened to it continuously for too long.

Meet other Civs with less grating themes. :D Then the Cree music will play less often.
Some of the background Native American music (not the main themes for the Civs) in Civ5 had chanting/vocals. I wonder what people thought of those?

Now that it's all over, the tragedy is that we've learned we can trust the Chinese leakers, even when they tell us things we really, really don't want to hear.
I reserve the right to live in denial. ;)

Is it really all over? We still don't have the reveal of the Zulus. Could be Shakala.

We still thought when the leak mentioned "Braveheart" that we'd get the Mel Gibson-led Scotland.

Thanks to that "popular" Mel Gibson movie, we didn't realize Braveheart originally referred to Robert the Bruce.

Nandi, Shaka's mom, is a better choice for a female Zulu leader, but that's not saying much. :p
