[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

Damn, does that mean we dont get another first look next week and our anticipation was spoiled? :p

Well, we have about 5 seconds of footage so there's quite a bit to anticipate still. The only difference is that we know which civ to anticipate for.

Wilhelmina is looking pretty adorbs, I gotta say. Could practically squeeze her cheeks.
I was expecting her to be a bit older, though, but this is fine.

Well, we saw Seondeok in the trailer. And the Dutch resistance fighters were a hint to the Netherlands and Wilhelmina. Does that mean the Mongols are a sure thing? And what of the Berlin Wall and the Gladiators scene? Is one a possible alt-leader hint? The girl sails a caravel-type ship. Portugal?

Well... Mongols would be nice. Maybe we'll recieve alternate leader for Rome and the the Berlin Wall means Soviet Union? :D

Would the Soviet Union be seperate from Russia as civilization though? I kind of doubt that to be honest.

I agree. They aren't exactly Rome and Byzantium.

Of course I don't expect USSR as a Civ, and I wouldn't even like it. While it was a superpower and the largest country in the world, it didn't even survive a century.

The Soviet Union isn't a civilization lol. It's the communist face of the Russian Civilization.

I'm not opposed to having them in, but... let's remain consistent and call them "Russia", shall we.

If the fall of the Berlin Wall is part of the possible leader/civ choices, then perhaps we should look at the other side of the wall. What about Helmut Kohl?

I like the idea, but the man only died a few months ago. It seems like a dark horse in my opinion.

I take that with a grain of salt. *cough* Henry VII leak *cough*
Henry VIII. I can't imagine anyone wanting Henry VII. :p

Like others, I expected Wilhelmina to be older, but I still love it.

I can see some merit in Henry VII. First Tudor, a rogue, and probably
not quite as pox-ridden and mad as VIII.

I'm glad they chose another female leader with Wilhelmina as a way
to again trigger misogynists and historical purists, but she has a list
of achievements about as short as those of John Curtin.

I wonder how would people react if Firaxis chose Austria and Maria Theresa :mischief:

Were people against her inclusion in Civ5? I don't recall that. People were more against Maria I being the leader of Portugal.

Mentally ill Maria I has at least a logical reason for being disliked as a leader of Portugal :P Although her voice actress was great :D

I don't know, since I discovered Civ after the release of Civ VI. However, there are still many people that think that women are unworthy of being in Civ :P

Hmm, I don't think Henry VIII was mad. Ruthless, narcissistic, egomaniacal, maybe sociopathic, but not mad.

If this is going to be an all female expansion... I'm starting to have other thoughts.

I was hoping if the Taíno were finally given a shot, that we'd get Agüeybaná. It'd be upsetting if it is all-female then a Carib tribe is likely out. The two women caciques I know of Anacaona of Ayití who was known for choosing death over a Spaniard's sexual advances & Yuíza of Borinquén who wed herself to a Spaniard to save her villagers' lives. I'd rather not a Pocahontas type story but if it'll finally get the Caribbean on a Civ map, I'm on board.

Mad Maria was great!! I'm just pissed about the view of the Algarve from Palácio da Pena.

Many gladiators were Celtic. That might be me reading too much into this.
