Heroic would replace Golden.

This means that it would be wise to be in a Dark Age during the Atomic Era and achieve a Heroic Age during the Information Era.

Yes... since I play without a time limit or victory conditions, I suspect I'm going to rot in a dark age for eternity.

Information Era Dark Ages are no doubt the worst kind of Dark Ages.

I have a feeling that everyone starts off in a normal era (Ancient era, or which ever era you start off in) and that there are no golden/dark/heroic ages in the Information era or if there are, then they are limited for x number of turns.

I'm worried about America's civ ability. As you guys probably know the mechanics of government legacy bonuses have changed to where whatever government you have when you build the corresponding tier of building in the government district you get that governments main ability as a policy card. So because of that america's civ ability has changed to " a diplomacy slot in your government is converted to a wildcard slot" sounds okay right? I mean you get a wildcard slot to be able to use a government's legacy card just one problem.........

That's literally is just a worse version of Greece's civ ability, so as of now greece does legacy bonuses much better than america whose civ ability is supposed to be based around it. What do you guys think of this Guys? I think there has to be something else to america's ability because i just can't believe they missed this huge oversight.

The balances of the UU, UI, LA, and CA to make sure that Civ's are competitive can be spread across all four categories; so not every Civ needs an equally powered CA (Civ Ability - which Founding Fathers is) to be balanced with other Civs. The only one's they def need to be careful with are the LA's, as in making sure any alternate leader for the same Civ has an equal LA.

I hope so. Firaxis needs to clarify the length of the Golden/Dark/Heroic Age during the Information Era. Nobody wants to be in a Dark Age during the Information Era and everyone wants to have a Golden Age or a Heroic Age during the Information Era.

Comparing civs based on a single attribute isn't looking at the whole picture. A civ is as strong as its synergy between its abilities. Having one overpowered ability and the rest being underpowered is still a weak civ.

Yes, but since Seondeok of Silla was shown in the trailer and the Netherlands was leaked on the Dutch TV + the trailer showed the Dutch resistence in WWII, it was quite easy to immediately reckognise them. The only other Civ we know about is Mongolia (Mongols conquering a city in trailer + Genghis/Kublai/Ögedei/some other Mongol leader's portrait and cities in same Mongol colours as in Civ V in the livestream). After that, we will really need to guess what the following Civs will be.

I've been wondering if a Civ were to get the UA of starting in a Golden Age. It would be good for the Hittites or a Pharaoh alt-leader for Egypt.

Well, Bohemia under Charles IV was in the Medieval Era... Well, nevermind. But he would still make a good Golden Age leader, although not really starting and Ancient.

Although... Well, Cyrus was among the greatest Persian leaders and Darius too, but I guess they were more Classical Era than the Ancient Era, right?

So I'm trying to condition myself to play as I'll be playing after the expansion drops so that I don't carry over bad habits and I must say that waiting for markets without trade routes to speed them along is painful.

The only leader that lived during the Ancient Era that we have right now is Gilgamesh, and that's not saying much.

Transitions to new expansion packs will always be painful.

I was thinking that too; but someone had the unique ability to have a "Golden Age" in the Ancient Era; it does mean that the devs will need to code in 4 dedications that only that Civ will have which I don't think they will do.

However what has just occurred to me: maybe there will be a Civ/Leader that gets a bonus Dedication that they can choose whenever they go into a Golden age? So you can choose one of the 4 provided by that era or you can choose your unique dedication?

Also maybe there is a Civ/Leader that gets to pick 2 dedications per Golden age instead of one?

If that leader had a Heroic Age, then he/she would get all the available dedications.

There should be a civ that earns extra Era points (and stacks with Taj Mahal).
