[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

They were big traders. They positioned themselves as middle-men between the Europeans and the other Native American tribes. They created an alliance called the Iron Confederacy to keep their rivals in check. So a bonus for the new alliance system stands to reason. We know a little about their unique improvement from the translated screenshot video thumbnail. It provides food and production relative to adjacent resources. The LUA depends on the leader. Poundmaker or Big Bear would be more diplomatic. Piapot would be expansive and confrontational.

The Iron Confederacy would be fun if applied to diplomacy granting bonuses to the Cree when allied with other Civs, for example.

We don't know much about the new Alliance system yet, but alliances now come in different flavors and have tiers. I could see the Cree rising through the tiers faster, or getting additional bonuses from alliances than just what is restricted to each flavor.

I guess I can expect a wonder video tomorrow?

I kinda doubt it. Firaxis seems to be on autopilot right now. They didn't have one last week, so I doubt they have one this week. Plus, I imagine it would have been leaked with the Cree and Not-Gandhi if they had distributed it to be pre-uploaded like them.

Sorry no Wonder video tomorrow. But I could be wrong.
We have six wonders we haven't had a video for. And five more Fridays after this week. I don't remember Firaxis uploading all the Wonder movies for the base game before release, so maybe some of the new expansion wonders won't get a video?

Kotoku-in doesn't need it, since we already know its abilites.

I would like to hear the wonder movie music, though. :p I'm a big fan of Japanese music.

edit: but if im laying money down, my bet is carthage, ottomans, portugal, canada... and georgia. Or is that too many?

We knew Cree is next which only leaves 4 spots; so you are 1 choice over.

I feel with Cree in the game and so few spots remaining we won't see Canada in this expansion, but if they do post-expansion DLCs (I know it's been said a lot already, but I really hope they do because I want more Civs!) then Canada will defiantly be the most likely DLC Civ in my mind.

My bets on the 4 unknown Civs are: Carthage, Ottomans, Portugal and Inca

I believe Carthage and Portugal will be in because their absence as city-states could be planned.

I'm sure that if we see a new militaristic CS, then it means Carthage will be a Civ, A [2nd] new commercial CS then Portugal is a Civ, a new industrial CS then Canada is a Civ, a new cultural CS then my bet is on Ghana as a Civ, a new faith CS then most likely... Georgia.
If we see a new scientific CS however, then I haven't got a clue as we've already seen 5 confirmed scientific CS.

There could be two Wonder videos in a week.

My guesses on the unknown civs: Georgia, Byzantines OR Ottomans, Inca, and one more civilization. I'd be astonished to see either Carthage or Portugal, TBH. IMO the Cree 100% rule out Canada in this expansion, fortunately.

Why? As bad as the city lists are, I don't really see Yerevan being added to Georgia's. Yerevan is in Armenia.

Oh, almost certainly. But madness brings out the brilliance among us, and has lead to the identification of the Kilwa Kisiwani, Mongolia, and a native north american civ (ended up the Cree). I look forward to observing madness going forward.

No, I mean an Italian civ, a civilization that represents Renaissance Italy, not just Venice. Something that can use the potential of alternate leaders.
Ahhh. Yeah it would be interesting if they ever went that direction. I'd look forward to it so long as it doesn't involve Mussolini. I would support a Tuscan, Genoese or Sicilian civ.

I could see Carthage returning, or the Phoenicians, and Portugal. But, in an effort to be clever (refering to myself, not the devs), I'm going to lean towards the Minoans as a stand-in for the Phoenicians, based on the 'devs like to have fun' theory.

The Phoenecians would be perfect for the video intro. Minoans would be sweet surprise!

What would be a sweeter surprise is finding out that Linear A or Minoan Hieroglyphics had been deciphered. ;)
