[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

Whenever I tire of the new civs and circle back to the old ones, I have to say that Ancestral Hall is going to be fantastic with Rome or England. Rome gets an instant road, a trading post, a monument, and a builder. England, on a foreign continent, gets a melee unit and a builder. Rome is one of my favorite civs, both historically and in game play terms. They were my first game at release and they'll probably be the first vanilla civ I circle back to. Pairing the Ancestral Hall with them will be exciting.

Am I forgetting any other civs that get city-founding freebies?

Great point. Rome is going to be super strong, as they should be. :)

Aren't we still unsure if there are new Great Persons though? Because of the new Renaissance Great Admiral?

Ferdinand Magellan has been added. There might be others.

One point I thinkt that had not been highlighted is that with the new era system, were the length of an era is fixed, we finally will be able to use all the Great People, and not have half of the Classical great scientists be gone because one sneaky barnacle has entered medieval era on turn 20

That's the thing I did not consider. The amount of Great People that would correspond to each era would be fixed. No more weird occurrences when you have an Industrial Era Great Person during the Renaissance era.

This. And we can now expect that more Great Work slots to be filled up. Here's hoping to less empty museums!

We have only seen one truly new Great Person, Magellan. Timur has the same retirement ability that Genghis did, and is therefore his replacement. All others thaat we have seen are modified existing Great People.

Two days!

Technically less for some of us on the West coast. Though I can't play until at least 9:45AM on Thursday, so it's more than 2 days for me. :(

I wouldn't mind seeing about 20 new pantheons. They really should have at least 1 per civ, even if some are fairly dull.
