Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

I know you must get bored of hearing this, so I shall say it only once :)

I have downloaded the RaR game mod: RAR_1[1].02_Full (116mb)

I downloaded this or a 'then' RaR mod about 3 or 4 months ago, its crashed when I devolped something in the modern age, an aircraft, A T-34 or something anyway what else do I need to download to make this the most up to date & bug free version?

Heya!

This is a really extraordinary mod and I am enjoying every bit of it... except a little detail. I am around 1800 BC (1.03, extended version) and the game crashes every second turn, looking for a native spearman ini or - when I click at the Bronze Working hyperlink - a native spearman.small.pcx.

Could you please tell me what is missing and where and most importantly how I can fix it and carry on with this incredible mod?

You might have a point here, since there were two similar reports on CDGs.
I cannot comment since it was long ago that I have played the Aztecs.Perhaps the extra hp should be removed.

Your problem is probably related to missing PTW extras.You can found a link in the first patch.DocTS signature ist outdated concerning RaR version (we have 1.03beta at the moment; 1.03 beta fixes the worker strength issue from 1.02), but not regarding the PTW extras!

I assume you have downloaded and installed first RaR 1.02 complete and then applied the 1.03 patch.Correct? I don't think is related to the PTW extras (see comment to chicken legs question), so my only ideas at the moment are a missing 1.02 complete or a corrupted download.Have you tried reinstalling RaR?
 
Actually, I circumvated the missing files problem by assigning the standard sperman files (ini, pcx etc.) to the "native spearman" - I copied and renamed the folder and ini.

BUT there are more problems... two more files missing, the game crashed on me twice more with two other files missing - the one is the unit that goes with the Iron works tech and I don't remember what the other is. I'll run a couple of tests and see what the heck is going on. I reinstalled RaR and nothing changed, btw, after I had my first couple of crashes with the native spearman. The download was alright and the game is running smoothly except for those missing files here and there. I d/led rar 1.00 and 1.02 and 1.03 and installed one over the other.
 
Hmm, I cannot image how it should cause this problem, but maybe your RaR 1.00 is the problem.Get rid of RaR 1.00 and just use complete RaR 1.02 and then install the 1.03beta.
It is helpful if you remember the units which cause crashes; this way it is easier to detect the reasons for the missing files.
 
About missing files: I think it may be wise to download PTW Extras from civ3.com - when I installed the Extras Patch (from RaR website), I still lacked T-34 files.

BTW: I noticed that usually enslaved units become Slaves but sometimes they become Workers (it seems that Archers give Workers) - is this intentional?

Download the WW2 units (don't be fooled by the fact they are listed under terrain...it is the unit pack!) and the medevial Japanese ones.

You need of course RaR 1.02 complete and the 1.03 beta.If you have still RaR 1.00 (or anythig else than Rar 1.02 complete as base), delete it.RaR 1.02 complete is a full version, there is no need for patching any older version to 1.02.As Ad Hominems problem show, it might even cause more crashes if you stick with an older version and try to patch it.
 
What a gem you guys have created!!! I'll never go back to playing 'regular' CIV after my taste of RAR. This is the ultimate MOD!!

What do you mean by accepted? As the name says it is a beta, so we will have final 1.03 soon.And basically we have still 1.02 at the moment, since 1.03 beta only fixes the worker strength issue caused by 1.02.

No because 1.03beta causes a few of its own problems, wait for 1.03 final for the accepted version.

Actually it is Ship of the Line...but what to do...

I found that the error is completely erradicated if you do the following:
1-Go into the Conquests, Scenario Folder
2-Go to the RAR Folder
3-Go into the Art Folder
4-Go to the Units Folder in the Art Folder
5-Find the Ship of the Line Folder
6-Make a copy of the Ship of the Line Folder
7-One copy should be titled: Ship of the Line
8-The other copy should be titled: Ship_of_the_Line
(This is because one is for the Ship of the Line Unit and the other is for the Heavy Frigate...)
9-Lastly, make sure that the configuration settings in each of those folders matches the title of its folder.

That should pretty much do it cause it worked for me...Good Luck!

I think it is a good idea - and perhaps extra HP should be removed for all UU's that get 2 MP instead of 1 - it means not only faster movement but also retreat ability (or no chance to retreat for an enemy unit).

I am translating R&R into Chinese version, but I find something unacceptable for normal Chinese.

The warrior of Asian flavour is named "Jomon Warrior". Jomon is of ancient Japan, but never influence other Asian civilizations. So I think "Asian Warrior" is better than "Jomon Warrior" for Asian civilizations.

There is also a matter of national mood: Chinese and Korean can't allow a "Japan" warrior on their land.

The same reason for "Bushi", "Otomo No Makuta" and etc. China can't build "Bushi", but Korea can, and Korean can't stand for a "Bushi" too.

Make sure you get permission from the mod maker

It is of no business purpose, but it is important to get the permission of authors.
 
i have a problem. when i start the extended version it will end after 540 turns. its also displayed when you press F8 (victory stats).

i have not messed around with the biq. someone else with the same problem ?
