Rise of Mankind 2.8 Feedback and bug reports

Building: Manor
Requirements: Feudalism (which I just got), granary and forge (both of them being present in my capital)

No joy. No manor.
Checking with the Zapparapedia ;), I find the remark (under "Strategy") that it requires Aristocracy, too.
I don't have such a civic. Should be Nobility, as I guess?

In addition, such an entry would be helpful in the mouse-over help from the Science Advisor.
 
There is a tech called Aristocracy, which is needed to enable Nobility, I think. In that sense a Manor requires Aristocracy, indeed. ;-)
 
It's looking as if this will be unplayable for me. The ai will not build more than 3 cities for some reason. The only way they get more than 3 is if they go to war. They build up to 3 and then stop. In game i'm playing now one of the civs built a 4th settler but is keeping it in a city and wont use it. It's been there for over 20 turns now.
 
Are you playing a Custom game? Or did you select play now?

Do you have Revolutions option activated?

BarbCiv? or Start as Minor?

It's a custom game and map because I like to know which civs will be in the game. Revolutions and start as minors are not enabled. No barb civ, or barbs at all in the game. I have made a very few changes but these should have no effect on number of cities the ai builds. Such as changing number of wonders allowed in one city and a couple of terrain yields. Also some changes to map in the world builder but again nothing that should affect the ai city building any.I've been playing huge maps at snail speed too but there's no way I should have 9 cities to the ai's 3. And could have built more than that if I wanted to. I'm also not using any of the mod mods either. Simply ROM2.8 full.

Reason I dont think these matter is that version 2.71 worked just fine with these changes.
 
Play deity and see what AI does then. You might want to start on a huge earth map. They always get more than 3 cities there, that much I can asure you...
 
-certain adv buildings obselete other buildings, e.g. granary is made obselete by building the adv granary. However, the normal granary is required to build the bakery. Which means, if you build adv granary before bakery, then you will never be allowed to build the bakery. There is another building with a similar problem. Don't remember which right now.

-in normal civ, corp execs can be built in any city with the corporation in the city. In this mod, for some reason corp execs can only be built by the city which has built the corporation main building.
 
Was playing as the Hittites. Any reason at all to Build more than one Steel Mill while Playing as them? ending up with -10% food -5% hammer (as is replaces the Iron Forge) makes this building useless to build in this case as a believe only the Steel resources itself is used as a prereq. for anything, not the building itself.

Still got the Wonder Movie for Chichen Itza w/2.8Lite

I personally think the Church/Free Church building Hammer bonuses are a bit much.
 
every time i load my game i have to redo all the options i selected for the bug mod

Edit: I think I may have fixed it by loading a game, pressing enter (after setting preferred options on/off), then reloading that last save. I'll know if it resets if I exit BTS completely then reload that save.

After installing version 2.8 I had to adapt the options according to my preferences. Then my first game crashed and after reloading an autosave, all options were back to standard. When I save the game manually, then exit the game and reload the save, most of my options are remembered, but some have been reset to standard.

It would be nice if there was a button to save the current BUG options to a file during the game (now you can only exit the options window).

Reinstalled everything, but to no avail. Not gamebreaking, but very annoying.


Also, the blacksmith quest cannot be completed. It asked for 11 blacksmiths. By now I have 14 (and state religion), but the quest is still unresolved.

Yes that's extremly annoying.
Did you reinstall BtS as well? After I did, this "bug", which I also had, was gone.
I think it's because I once tweaked the civconfig.ini a bit and reinstalling BtS + patching 3.19 provided a clean one.

Are you sure that not someone else got it completed before you?

it happens when ending round 109/1050. i have a savegame file in round 108 attached.
its a normal 'start game' and not a custom one. the mapsize is definetely not giant or gigantic.

i can give some more information to the soft and hardware:
civ 4 bts german 3.19
rise of mankind mod 2.8 + hotfix
win xp sp3
4gb ram

i cannot say what the problem is. :confused: whatever i've done a few turns before round 110 it always crashed there. if the modmaster (:goodjob:) or somebody else could just check my savegame and report back here i would be pleased

i thought, some players already us the mod with the german version of the game successfully

I've read something about 'english only', not sure of 2.8 is still english only but I wasn't able to load your game at all.. I am using afforess modmods though..

Don't know how much effort changing the game language is but I suppose you should try that first.

update:

with a few times try/error i could go on a few rounds. now i am in round 114 :rolleyes:

I haven't noticed any game unusual behavior, and have not experienced and CTDs. I'm playing as America and i'm around Turn 20.

I had that too, solved by re-installing BtS, RoM and installing Afforess Modmods.

I have not been able to replicate this onTechAcquired error yet so I'm puzzled what triggers the error. It would help me if people posted python logs from their game after this error has happened so it gets written to the log file after you shutdown the game.


I'm interested hearing about how the late game eras now play out and what you all think about the new transhuman era things?
