Rise of Mankind 2.8 Feedback and bug reports

I'm in a situation where Bakery is unbuildable in some cities. The reason is that Bakery requires Granary, and some cities have upgraded their Granary to a Modern Granary. The Bakery will eventually upgrade to a Food Processing Plant, but I don't have that tech yet.

It would be good IMO if Modern Granary would allow the building of a Bakery until the Food Processing plant comes available - or perhaps even after - I'm not sure exactly how the building upgrade thing works.

Check the enclosed screenshot and save. I gave the offshore platform a GoTo order, and it took a shotcut over land.

I guess it's not the most important bug there is, but it's certainly interesting.

Edit: The save is using basic 2.8 - no modmods

I am currently playing a custom game of civ using RoM 2.8 and BtS 3.19, with no modmods. While at war with the comp, I earned my second great general. Instead of my capital producing a Great General, I received a Warlord Chief (S). At the time, my capital was building a Warlord Captain (S), which might have something to do with the error.

Giant sized map on RoM custom continents. I could look up more specifics, but I don't think they are relevant to the error.

I had a break from Civ4 for some months - my previous RoM version was probably 2.6 or so, perhaps before that. One of the big changes is IIRC related to food and city growth.

Initially, growth is slow because the amount of food required for growth has been increased. That is good.

Later, you get buildings that provide food. Once you get into around the industrial area, you get quite a lot of these. Bakery, Artesian well, Cannery, Corporation stuff and more. Plus improvements give more food. This significantly affects the ability of a city to grow. My largest city at ca 1970 is around 40. I guess that's fine as well. I rarely have problems with happiness and health, but they do occur. I will probably hit those problems later, and certainly if I have to get into a major war.

The main issue with this is probably that it allows you to grow new cities very quickly once you have the food providing buildings. I guess this could be seen as a simulated effect of immigration. It also means that you can settle in the ice and tundra and have a thriving city fairly quickly. That's perhaps not so good.

I'm rambling a bit. I do think that the amount of food you can produce may be overpowered. Turn down the effect of the Cannery for one thing. How do others feel about this?

Play deity and see what AI does then. You might want to start on a huge earth map. They always get more than 3 cities there, that much I can asure you...

Currently am (although I use advanced start to get a non-random chance of surviving the first 200 turns) and things were going swimmingly until all the AI cities decided to start a 50-turn Inquisitor build. And no one knows Fundamentalism yet. Weird bug, that.

Hi all, just downloaded the 2.8 from the torrent and am so anxious...however it won't load at all...can get as far as "add a mod" click on that and presto....right to desktop.....I'm using an HP with dual core pentiums @ 2.0 gb and have 3gb of ram... I think the problem might be is that it's a 32 bit system.... could someone verify either that I'm an idiot or that there is no way it will work on my system.....oh, and if it won't on my system....will one of the older version work?
Thanks
Duane

Have you updated to the latest patch (3.19)?

Stupid question, but did you update BtS to 3.19? Sometimes the simplest solutions are the answer. If you've played RoM 2.7 or higher, then you already have BtS 3.19 so ignore this.

He says OOPS and shuffles his feet while blushing! Just checked and don't have that ..... will download it now..... you know it's tough to get old and demented!

Thanks for the advice to both of you!

Forts allow water units to move over land.

Hey there...

Finally... The CTDs that have haunted me since 2.7 are gone. I'm happy. But these storms. Do they just grow? They don't seem to ever shrink, and soon the entire atlantic of my earth map is covered in storms. Any tips? I feel storms should be moremobile, not grow out of proportions.

Balanced, Small map, played through w/o crashing (normally common on this old computer of mine), achieved a Cultural Victory, but the game did not end, in the sense that I achieved an available victory condition, and at two different points, all control panels and frames disappear, as if I'm going into world view, though I know I'm not.

Also, all my rivals kept pumping out Inquisitors to purge even their own diverse religions. When did it change that one could train these w/o being Intolerant?

The Full of Resources script is not behaving as appears intended. I don't get the resources I specify (copper, stone, both) at my starting location, and I frequently have inland starting positions despite specifying 'on the coast.' Also, it doesn't seem to place any flood plains plains, which I assume is unintentional since they appear in other scripts I've tried.

That's weird. Doesn't make sense to me.

Well, the reasoning for it is that forts represent canal systems that allow ships to traverse short distances overland (2 tiles worth of forts max, IIRC). Many people don't like it though, and have suggested that dedicated "canal" improvements be added -- but that seems like a complicated mod, and to date it has not been implemented.

I'm not sure if this will ever be fixed, but at least some of the random events still do not work. Personally in 2.8, I've seen the early game event in which you find a new medicine, but it could be improved with human testing, and your options are +1 (temp) happiness, -1 (temp) happiness, or -2 (temp) happiness, without the previous possible health gains or loss of population. I've also seen the 'discover tech in a city ruins' event, but the option to pay for a chance at gaining more research simply costs you money, and you gain the same amount of research.

This may not be a problem with ROM 2.8, but possibly with modmods (Afforess Essential modmods) interacting with it.
I was playing to 320BC when suddenly all my cities were reduced to size 2 or 1 and I founded all remaining religions on one turn! I check the event log and nothing surprising happened prior to this. Anyone come across this yet? I notice some other people mentioning founding a few religions on one turn, but nothing about cities being reduced. Let me know if you want the event logs :)

Currently up to 1700 on a Giant map. IT'S CRAWLING. 3 minutes a turn.

This is on a computer with an AMD 945 Quad 3.0, 4890 Graphics card, 4gb DDR3 RAM, etc.

Need Help .

Having a CTD in very beginning of the game. 2.8 with the Hotfix
