Rise of Mankind 2.9 feedback and bug reports

"Abandon city" (CTRL-A) does not work any more in 2.92.

EDIT: I just reloaded my first 2.92 game from yesterday evening and ALL options that I had defined in the CTRL-ALT-O-menu are gone (back to default) - damned! Is it possible to save these options to a file PLEASE!!!

EDIT2: The new Warlord Chief: has strength 10 and can attack without declaring war - are you serious? In the early game it takes too many units (light swordsmen, axemen) to defeat such a unit; and you have to escort any worker, trade caravan or great merchant/prophet etc because even the warlords of friendly nations or vassals attack them. This is not funny!

I'll check Abandon city component - nothing was changed in it so it's odd that it's not working now.

BUG game options - do you have ini files in the folder 'Beyond the Sword\Mods\Rise of Mankind\UserSettings'? That's the place where the mod should save BUG mod's ini files once you have visited BUG options page in-game.

Didn't know Vincentz had changed Warlord Chief (ie. I didn't check his changelogs for that kind of detail). I'll adjust the unit for next patch.

Blender would be needed for some kind of farm upgrade and subarbs.

Speaking of art, did you see the new Turkish bombard and unit sets in the database? ;)
Hmm, I think we got farm upgrades and stuff... the fpks do contain lot of stuff that can be used for improvements...

Haven't checked those units (yet).

Quick issue with the new 2.92 version a friend and I have encountered...

OOS issues are VERY common. At least one every 2-3 turns, quickly flashing and going away. A slight annoyance and nothing more. The real problem is the utter magnitude of OOS errors that occur, compared to 2.91, which do not automatically fix themselves. It is consistent from game to game, the only extra mod we us is the Leaderhead pack 2. This issue is repeatable every time. Sadly, the game is not playable in multi (direct IP connection) due to this.
Dang, I guess we'll have to wait for proper RevDCM 2.8 release to get fully working multiplayer mode then... at least we got the Better BtS AI 1.01 for a test run now :)

The goody hut problem is a bug in RevDCM as well - they fixed it into one version but apparently the fix wasn't included in the SVN version I had merged to RoM. This fix will come to RoM when I get the chance to merge next RevDCM version.

So my brother and I try to play hotseat with ROM 2.91 (patched). We typically play PerfectWorld2, but lately we have become frustrated because either one of us will be, well, screwed when it comes to starting location.

Either he or I will have an overabundance of resources while the other will be stuck, usually without a gold source or, even as today, without a food or production source.

I was wondering what maps you would recommend playing for hotseat? We like PW2 since it creates a realistic map, but I guess its just not supportive of hotseat. We even tried playing as all humans to see the starting locations. But I chose the wrong civ because after retiring everyone but our two, I was stuck on an island that only had space for 3 cities.

Any suggestions?

Any map But PW or PW2.

RoM_Lakes on Giant, RoM_Archapelago, etc.

Okay, i have the latest version of rom and everytime i want to play a specific saved game the game crashes.... i have no clue why, i just spend an hour to install civ4 completely back from the start and it still does so. if you need the savegame just pm me, ill load it up so you can help me fixing the problem...
Probably important i have a laptop with windows 7 , i7-720qm, ati 5850hd and 8g ram.

Joseph: I'll try ROM Archipelago once 2.92 finishes downloading and see whats up.

Thanks :)

hey when i play custom game there is the options to check right.mine have text problem
some of them says TXT_GAME_OPTIONS_NO_INQUISITIONS or TXT_REV_OPTIONS_NO_BARBARIAN_CIV
ive installed and reinstalled it properly.
is there any fix?

I'm experiencing problems with the founding of religions. Probably this has something to do with game options. Ideally I'd like to combine the choose religions and limited religions options.

It is very confusing that there are 2 places where I can configure the limited religions option (customize game options screen and the revDCM setting in BUG options screen). Which should I use? Shouldn't there only be one?

I tried all kinds of combination to set it up but I haven't been able to get it working.
I'v experienced getting two religions at once, and at other times I (and AI players alike) could not found any religion.

I'm pretty far in at 1420 AD and have so many freaking hours into it. I have a super computer and I'm only playing on a huge map the load times between rounds are not bad HOWEVER at the end of my latest turn it doesn't crash or anything it just stays loading... I can see the little earth icon still spinning I can move around the map and see little effects moving and all but the next turn won't load. Tried reloading before the turn, Restarting the game and I even left my computer for 4-5 hours and it's still stuck loading. No crashes not even if I alt tab....

I"m REALLY into this game so i would looooooooooove the help any ideas??? I'm on 2.91 btw with windows 7.

Same problem in my first game on 2.92, large map, 12 civs, revolutions on.

There is a known bug in RevDCM with choose religions and limited religions. RevDCM is the base on which RoM is built so RoM has those errors. I understand that the RevDCM team has fixed the problems but they are not in the version which RoM 2.92 uses.

@Zappara, played 2.92 last night, no problems so far. Just RoM but with the Female Missionaries mod included since I needed to test it ;).

First of all, I have to say RoM is by far the best mod I've known since the days I was playing the original Civ I. For that and for his diligent efforts to make this mod so good, I have to say heartfelt thanks to Zappara :) If not for RoM, my Civ4 BtS CD would have gathered a good amount of dust by now ;)

About a minor bug I've recently encountered with 2.92:

There's this quest that requires you to build a certain number of stables. I did so, only except that I had further upgraded a stable to a knight's stable before the required number of stables were built. Say, the quest is for 7 stables, I had 6 stables plus 1 knight sable. In that case the quest was deemed incomplete.

I built a 7th stable and the quest was completed and I chose the +1 food bonus for stables as my reward, but the knight stable didn't get the bonus.

Could this be considered a bug?

Yes. If you play with my Expansion for RoM, this bug is fixed, upgraded buildings still count towards quest and event goals. ;)

Is it a bug that after about 500 turns in the Industrial Era that the game would consistently crash? If anyone wants to try, you could play the saved game until around the year 1520, since that is about the time the game crashes. (I couldn't put the saved game at the time of crashing, because it has over 2 MB, which is the limit for attachments.) I am also using Rise of Mankind 3.91.

RoM 2.92, I have the local fishermen build fishing boat event happening in inland cities again. One problem with that one and the repair fishing boats is that the game does not show where these are being done, unlike disaster events which center the map on the event.

There also seems to be something wrong with the Guilds and the option "corp execs start automated" but I will need to look at the doco and report back.

I did get the corporate greed quest which required that I get another guild charter, but it is a unique resource, ie you can only have one.

Thanks Affores, I'll give your modmod a try :)

On another note, in my latest 2.92 game as the Inca (prince, standard map), I have just discovered optics and my triremes can now be upgraded to caravels. However, I seem to be not able to build them in my coastal cities. Perhaps I'm missing something, or can this be a bug?

Do they require a shipyard in the city? that would be my guess. ;)

This sort of works for me see attached first. @Tuvok694, you were in the city when you tried Ctrl_A?

Edit: I have finally made it to transhuman era where wonders and national wonders are cheaper than city buildings.:crazyeye:

I just built a shipyard in one of my cities to check your suggestion but unfortunately still cannot build any caravels :(

I just checked this one out as well; when pressed Ctrl-A, the abondon city menu pops up just like your screenshot but after selecting an improvement I want to get rid of or choosing the 'abandon city' option itself, nothing happens.

I do remember copying the text entries for these new game options from RevDCM to RoM but looks like there could be typos since I checked what text entry is included in RoM's files and it's there: TXT_KEY_GAME_OPTION_NO_INQUISITIONS. I just also tested Custom Game and on my computer the game options are displayed correctly. So don't know why it doesn't show them on your screen...

I just noticed these?

The new city set, kind of weird looking?

Why is there an upgrade of a ship that lowers STR and movement? Then the Ship of the Line gone from being built also?
Which Civ is that? I don't remember that flag... If it some modular civ, it could be that it isn't updated to point to the new city artstyles and instead tries to use the old ones which were removed in v2.9. Iron Frigate belongs to Steam ships group and has 25% bonus vs. wooden ships, ie. it's str vs. Ship of the Line is 30*1.25 = 37,5 so it's stronger than Ship of the Line which has str of 32. Also Iron Frigate ignores terrain movement costs.

Hmm, got to take another look at those quests/events. Haven't checked before corporation related quests and didn't realize that adding Vincentz' guilds/corps would affect those quests (probably the quest needs new tech reqs).

Thanks Affores, I'll give your modmod a try :)

Didn't see anything wrong with Triremes or Caravels and Caravels do not require any buildings or resources.

What leader traits do you have? Industrious increases wonder production by 50%.. did you have that? Nanite defuser is supposed to be cheap wonder - the player who has the most nuclear weapons probably doesn't want it to be built at all but a player who has limited resources and not so high city production can build this wonder and "damage" all nuclear powers with one swift strike.
