Rise of Mankind Crashes at "Init Graphics"

I can't run versions 1.50, 1.51 or v.1.52 and therefore I can't use the mod. Not even the non-mega pack 1.50 works. They crash at "init graphics" while loading the map at any setting, gigantic or duel, low or high graphics. Civ 4 complete runs normally without the mod. My installation is normal, I just copied or unzipped the folder "Rise of Mankind" into the mods folder. I need help to play this great mod and finally get more than just the basic tech tree in the game. Maybe 1.4 or 1.2 will work and where can I download them? Could the problem be this installation path d:\games\civ4\beyond the sword\mods\Rise of Mankind? User 'noxxle' has the same problem. I have

Actually, forum chaos can be avoided by separating the publication and the bugs and then organizing the two subjects in an orderly fashion in relation to the rest of the forum. You want to help the long list of titles, where instead you should reform the single thread into a holistic tree and the list by creating more subcategories. Meanwhile, I want to make another opening, or my subject is lost in the chaos of "Rise of Mankind"

Before this gets moved/locked/whatevered, there really isn't much of a solution. -Maybe- the mod was corrupted when zappara or whoever uploaded it to the site you got it from and the corruption propagated itself as the mirrors went up, but more likely the mod is just so huge now that you'll need that /3GB MAF fix, or a 64-bit OS to run it. You can try setting the graphics settings of Civ to the lowest possible and then only running duel-sized maps, this "worked" for me though the framerate was dismal in the presence of any city.

I wrote in the opening that it doesn't work with low graphics setting and duel map size. 2 Gigas is enough memory and the 945 Graphics express is enough for it. Maybe Zappara didn't make Rise of Mankind as compatible with Civ 4 complete as he thought? Leave answering to himself.

Go to Beyond the Sword folder and there should file CivilizationIV.ini or Civ4Config shortcut. It opens to notepad. Then change the following settings to:

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1

; Enable synchronization logging
SynchLog = 1

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs = 1

; Enable rand event logging
RandLog = 1

; Enable message logging
MessageLog = 1

; Break on memory allocation order #

Save and start the game and make it crash again.. after crash the game writes the log files.

Go to Beyond the Sword folder again and there should be link to logs. Zip all the log files and then post the zip in this thread as attachment.

This time the game didn't crash to desktop but froze my laptop. There appears to exist only a "themeparselog", which was modified when I saved the log, not after when I launched the game. Should I get a desktop crash? View attachment ThemeParseLog.txt

Hmm, themeparselog.txt is not among those logs that I'm looking for. There should be plenty of log files in that logs folder, like PythonErr.log, init.log, audio.log, xml log etc.

-log files are denied by this server so I have to save to doc
-You should explain that I have to find the appointed civilization.ini file through its shortcut and browse that subfolder folder in 'administrator' folder. It was unexpected that the logs weren't in Civ4 folder
-these logs are fresh, I only run the game once with the mod after reinstall
-the mod file is the smaller one and the version is 2.50
-xml log file is 12 megas and is rejected by the server, but here are the last lines excluding repetitive 'not found' lines

Looks like you have currently civ version 3.13 and you'll need v3.17 to run RoM so what you need to do is patch your game.

You can download Beyond the sword 3.17 patch from the links mentioned in this post. Patch works for Civ 4: Complete too. Mod should work correctly once you have patched your game.
