Rise of Rome revisited...

After studying the situation for awhile, I decided to follow your lead.

The Greeks are no more!

All three of their remaining cities are ours, and road to the dye is almost done. Even better, a Great Leader appeared while taking Mycanea. The Forbidden Palace was completed in Corinth in 1 turn!

If we build enough temples and libraries in Corinth and its neighbor towns, the English and Egyptian cities will most likely turn, and become ours. Mwah-hah-hah!

Sun Tzu's is completed in Rome. I started a library - finish it and build a university ASAP!!!

OK. There is some bad news. The English are KILLING us in science. They beat me hands down to Astronomy and built Copernicus', then started JS Bach. We are WAY behind them.

I established an embassy in London, which has Pyramids, Hanging Gardens and Sistine Chapel in addition to a library and a university on the way. Sheesh!

They built Copernicus' in another city entirely, and are building JS Bach in yet another! Damn!

OK. We can still beat them to Economics, so I started researching Banking. LETS GET ADAM SMITH'S FIRST! Then we can go for Gunpowder and start looking toward war with England later.

Remember this, England gets MORE powerful at the end of the middle ages and into the industrial age. Somehow we need an edge. Egypt is pathetic, very weak. They can do little for us.

We could ally with England, its a possibility too. They dont like us much, but dont hate us enough to attack us. At least thats my feeling. So its another option.

We need a goal. Military conquest means tangling with the English superpower someday. If we ally with them, we have an even shot at other options. Either way is a challenge.

This game is very interesting and very unusual. Good luck to whoever is next.

A well planned and executed raid to capture and raze the city of London would really put a stop to English domination.

Ofcourse that would be a very dastardly thing to do. Totally barbaric, and reminiscent of the Roman Empire.

Hey! Wait a minute...

;)

Sword of Leo: It is Ohwell's turn right now after he takes his turn we'll try to fit you in somewhere.:)

Ceaser Hammers has tooken the throne! He tours the empire, and notices many towns don't even have a marketplace! He orders consruction immediatley.

- 960 AD- The Egyptian town of Pithom revolted from Cleopatra, and asked us to let them join us.

- Our trade of ivory has been lost, but it was made with the English, for a high price.

-1010- Our scientists learn about banking, and strive to discover how to create new things.

The Caravel Rome was sent out to search for new lands of gold. Instead, it discovered a wierd pink line, but was unable to get close enough due to a sea storm.

-I dub me Ceaser the Explorer!

Sword of Leo: Knight-Dragon is up now but if you can play today (Christmas Eve day) go ahead and take a turn. Knight-Dragon usually plays when it is morning here in the US.

I am on leave fr Christmas til New Yr's Eve, then it's another 1/2 day and then after that, yet another public holiday. :D [dance]

I'll be taking my turn now and will be back in a few hrs (after finishing with surfing these forums). ;)

Can I still sign up or am I too late now?

I wasn't sure wether it was 10 or 20 turns, so I did 10.

Prime Minister Toasty ascends to power in the Roman republic on Christmas day of the 1,26oth year AD :D.

1260-Traded 50 gold with the Germans for communiquations with the Iroquois. Upsettingly, they are the only ones with saltpeter, and we have no trade route with them.
Oh well.

1270-Bank completed in Veii, Smith's trading co. started, marketplace in Delphi completed, bank started, and library completed in Knossos. Romans toy with the idea of war with the Egyptians. Workers near Knossos sent to make an irrigation system in Pharsalos. Coventry (construsting Smith's trading co.) to be investigated next turn.

1275-Temple in Herakelia completed. Marketplace started. Government gives in to Antium 'strikes', as citizens demand entertainment/luxuries. Too busy massing on the Egyptian border. Library completed in Corinth, university started. Prime Minister Toasty's palace is expanded :D. Lots of British activity on our border. Has me worried. Maybe put off the Egyptian invasion...
But good news! Coventry's Smith's trading co. won't be completed for 75 years, while it's <50 in Veii. We should get this one.

1285-(don't ask me, I'm just reading the year). Thermopylae citizens appeased. Roman workers sneak near Brighton to steal some fresh water for Pharsalos . French offer their world map in exchange for ours and banking. The Prime Minister spits on the proposal :D. Turns out the Brits have Navigation. Maybe trade metallurgy next turn for some saltpeter from the Iroquois?

1290-English tell our fresh-water theives to get out . We move after we get the water. EGAD! An Anglo-Egyptian war! We should declare on the Egyptians or we might lose all hope in beating the Enlgish.

1300-Talk to the English about paying me off for an alliance with the Egyptians, but they won't give ANYTHING. Roman legions by Herakelia head for Egypt.

1305-Legionarys move into Egypt, and Rome is set on a war footing. Knights being produced all over the country. War has not yet been declared. Scratch that; Egyptians tell us to get out or declare war. We declare war. Move against the detatched cities of Bluto and Lisht. Ooo-Ivory...

1310-Legionarys take positions in a hill near Lisht. Only a spearman in the city :D. Heeeellloooo, Ivory and Iron.

1315-Bah! Stupid spearman! Killed 2 veteran Legionarys! Oh well, Lisht taken, remaining Legionary heads for Bluto. British offer us Printing press for 60 gold...aw, we've got 300. We bite. (They're gracious now...hmmm....)

1320-Prime Minister Toasty died last night and the discovery of military tradition was made. More legions head for Bluto. In his last words, he announced the desperate need of saltpeter from the Iroquois for cavalry, and that Egypt should be destroyed.

Well, there ya go. Here's the save, too.

Well, Knight-Dragon, it can't be worse than the recent trouble I got the Reich in.:o

Sword of Leo or joespaniel - either one of you should go now. Just post to let us know which one is playing.

Maybe I'm just impatient, but can we get joe or sword on this soon? I wanna see how the Egyptian war turns out :tank:. GL!
