'Rising Tide' expansion announced!

I think you've nailed it there. With the water theme, I'd expect the Brits to be in there in some form or another along with a German-Scandinavian faction. Including the Japanese also make a lot of sense. All three of these have had a strong nautical influence at one time or another, some a long time ago ;) Britannia no longer rules the waves.

Could also be a single Nordic/British Isles faction. That's my guess.

I dunno they had cyber samurai in Mutant Chronicles (the rpg not the movie)

I half expect it to be 1 company type sponsor, 1 military type and 2 "nation " type we have one " nation " one recently revealed.

We know one of civ is an Arab nations, I would suggest from the hinting of Devs that another will be Japan/Korea, I would suggest another will be from Northern Europe (UK/Scandinavia/Germany), assuming on of the other two is not the mysterious Cestus Group, I'll leave the last slot ot them.

Do you see that happening?

No not really. But I can hope right? They said they are going to TRY to make biomes more than just colour change maps

What this entails I have no idea. I'd want my mind worms back on fungal.

It might be a bit much to have a unique set of aliens per biome, it would be nice if there was a wide-ish selection of aliens that got randomized each time, it could help with replayability, as you never know what combination you will get.

I think things like these should be low priority when the game itself still needs a lot of fixing. They should work on the interesting bone structure first.

Yes! Space Samurais AND Plasma Hwachas! :D

I'm not asking for a set I'm asking for one per Biome so maybe fungus creature for fungal, some sort of themed monster per Biome heck it could really be a re-skin or say an uber worm for desert ( so kill or save the king worm? Quest ? ) . Who wouldn't want some sort of Spinosaurus for primordial??

Yes other things need work I'm not going to deny or ignore that. But they said in initial interviews that Biomes would be more prevalent to x or y creature. I've not really noticed much difference.

It's not my place to demand anything, Firaxis are nice guys and I hope they at least consider doing something similar.

I do like that idea! :goodjob: Also, perhaps a set of machines (such as the Cybrids from "Cyberstorm 2") that are bent on defending their turf would be a nice segue from the various animals that are now being presented. Or perhaps something a little darker where captured civilians are taken back to bases (instead of nests), made into zombie-cyborgs, and sent back out to attack/ capture more civilians.

If Germany and England and the Northern Nations are thrown together then they could have a faction based on the Mediterranean or Panama.

I see the uk and nations like Sweden, Denmark and Finland creating an alliance possibly with Germany.

I love these guessing games about the civs and/or sponsors in these civ games when a new addon is coming. I know there is a lot more to it then the sponsors (as there should be).
But first I had hoped for more sponsors since I found that only 8 was really a low amount for a game like this.
Even though I'm happy we get 4 more sponsors I had hoped for at least 6, but oh well, nothing to do about I guess (except using mods like I'm already do).
Since we already got the Arab sponsor that leaves only 3 to guess.

I think like everybody that some form of Japan (with or without Korea) is a safe bet.

Also a North-West European sponsor in some form is a good bet. My take on it would be something of Norway/Sweden and Germany and with them the descendent's of the flooded Netherlands, Flanders and Denmark This would be one of the 2 water themed sponsors I bet. This could also include the British Isles but maybe they keep them separate for a combo with Canada or something like that. (since I'm Dutch I really hope we at least get mentioned in this sponsor and not forgotton since our country ended up being at the bottom of the North Sea:sad::()

The last one could be the for mentioned UK/CD combo or something completely new like a Caribbean alliance for the second water themed sponsor (if the JP/Korea combo isn't water themed). Or a Native Middle/South American themed sponsor.
Personaly I like the Caribean one the best for the final choice.

As Water themed sponsors they can make the North Europeans Water Engineers and The Caribbeans a sort of Pirate like faction. Japan/Korea I see more as a Science/Production Themed Sponsor. The Arabs they can make into a survivalists Themed Faction of sorts.

Probably I'm completely wrong but thats why it's called guessing.:)

A pirate "Svensguard" from SMACX type faction or Sponsor actually might be a good bet for a water themed expansion.

Given that Firaxis says there will be 2 water-themed factions, I'm looking forward to that. A faction that starts on the sea would obviously start with planetary survey too. Expansion will be so fun and you will be virtually untouchable from land-locked civs. :)

However, this might also warrant the addition of a new infantry unit from civ 5, that being the marines with the negated amphibious penalty when embarked in water. Maybe one of the sea themed factions will be a mixture of Songhai's UA and Viking UA concerning (dis)embarkation and if they do implement a marine unit, for that faction only, it would have an additional combat bonus attacking from the sea.

I'm essentially expecting all the new factions to fit within the "Rising Tide" theme. S Scandinavian Faction with naval, exploration theme sthat harkens back to Norse exploration and Rebel Faction that's an inverse to the ARC and focuses on espionage (a rising political tide if you will) is quite likely in my eyes.

Also, hopefully better Polystralian traits that fit with the new theme.

Does it fix 1UPT? No? Then it's crap. Pity because new ideas are fun, but a fix for the base game is long, long overdue.
