RK-08: Atomic Betty

Robo - I like your leader picker - was that an update from the vanilla one that someone did? Do you mind if I dl a copy?

And GOT IT - playing / reporting tonight.

First things first ... oh dear, the capital is 1 tile off the coast. Oh well, guess we will have to actually hook up the other AIs via the road system to get the trade flowing into it. Other than that, this looks like a very strong capital ... and chock full of wonders.

Peter comes calling asking for open borders (sure) and I later trade him Code of Laws for Monarchy (we could swap civics if we wanted to). Barb action is heating up with an Axe down south ... all it did was give Ruggan's archer experience. I moved our archer out of the way, partly to expose the tiles on the coast but also to see if the Axe could actually take that city (what was I thinking) ...

BTW - that city looks like a very nice spot and we should really think about adding it to our empire ... I have taken the first steps in that process (see log) ... sure, baby steps at the moment but you have to start somewhere ...

Ragnar also asked us to swap to become Jewish ... no thank you ... sent him packing (he was not a happy camper!). We also got some other news about wonders that we missed (duh!)
betty002oz4.jpg

I founded Canterbury (Conf later spread to it all by its self )

In other news ...
  • we got the hanging gardens
  • built a library to start the GL
  • a prophet was born ... didn't know if we wanted the Shrine or to lightbulb Theology (Christianity not founded!) ... left him alive for the group to decide ... but then found out that we already had the shrine (duh)
  • why isn't my logger logging improvements?
  • built roads, cottages and some mines - mainly cottages
  • I put the tech selection towards optics so that we could go find those other AIs
  • None of the other AIs are thinking of war at the moment
  • we have a great engineer coming soon (gene pool will be affected by hanging gardens so he could be a merchant)

Grrr - now I have to go and test my logger (again!)

Welcome aboard, ruff_hi! And thanks for your mod! :)

I can't take a look at the save, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but...
- The HG gives Engineer points, right?
- The Great Library wasn't supposed to be built in London, was it? London is the Engineer home, York the Prophet home and I can't remember where science home is! ;)
- London was supposed to have the National Epic, according to vra and Frank's prayers, wasn't it?

Man, I'm coming home tonight. That damn work notebook has a 3d card, a very good hardware, but can't play civ... :badcomp: I think I'm getting sick... :vomit:
NEED CIV... NEED CIV...

Yes HG does give GE points ... and I didn't see that you were specializing your wonders (oops). I've only put 1 turn into the GL ... suggest you quite it (need to actually delete it from the build list) and start it in the right city - which ever that is.

Sorry about the wonder mix up.

Well, I can't say I was totally happy with this, but its hardly a total loss.

Im a tad annoyed that you traded away CoL as we have the Pyramids and we have no wine.
Having Ragnar annoyed is fine, as we're about to hand him his rear as it is.
Canterbury is in an OK spot, and we did need horses and Furs eventually. Nottingham is the Science Home, and you barely started the GL, so all is good there.
Good job on the improvements building.
And Hmm..lightbulbing Christianity...I had not though of that. What do you guys think?

Ahh - right, must look at techs to see if we can actually use them. The other option was Calendar but that would obsolete SHenge ... though getting Monarchy tech just puts us one tech closer to :nuke:

I actually like Canterbury a lot (given the other city options). If we had horseback riding, we could do a lot of damage with some mounted units.

BTW - general management consultants would suggest that you start with the positives and then move onto the negatives (which they would call 'areas for improvement')

Horses? Not really...lets do remember we've got Ragnar and Alex to conquer in the short term. THAT means Beserkers (in for Macemen) and Phalanx (in for Spearmen). So, the long and short of it is that Horses are of little value other than pillage and scout, which in this instance, is all we can use them for. Personally, I'd like to stop Compass, and start Machinery to get Crossbowmen, which would be effective counters all through Feudalism.]

EDIT: Oh, and construction for cataults, unless we'd like to be dead...

ummm ... I thought we were planning on blowing the $hit out of everyone with :nuke: ... we have to leave someone alive to make glow! But, I take your point re the horses.

Oh, but we are :p

But I'd be scared to see the defences we'd have to deal with if we wait till the Modern Age to go conquering.

Oh, and sorry to tell you, I'm not one to adhere to political correctness :P

@vra - bugger political correctness. Guess I will just wait for a few rounds before chipping in ...

I just had a look at the save, and I'm going to change my suggestions...We need Currency - and Courthouses or our economy won't survive any hostile takeover :p

As for Ragnar...looks like the bastard's trying to block us in.

EDIT: Looks like Frankor's up next =)

EDIT 2: Looks like I'm up next then =)

Hey hey hey... rules say we must try to conquer our continent before the modern age when we launch the mushrooms.

Don't worry guys, my internet will be fixed soon, I've already threatened my ISP with a lawsuit.

Oh yeah. Home sweet home. After waiting 4 hours for a delayed flight. stupid Brazilian airports...:p

Well, our roster:

1. Robo Kai (no more on auto-skip and raging to get a save)
2. fbelintani
3. ruff_hi (just played)
5. vra379971 (swapped: up for 10-15)
4. frankcor (swapped: on deck)

@Robo: services are the same everywhere... They don't want to do anything unless you sue them.
@vra: Monarchy is not that useless. I know we have no wine, but it's required for Feudalism. I always say the more we trade, the lesser we may have to research!
Again, I don't think we need more wonders right now. Maybe the best path is Currency (to extort some fund research money from tech trades) and Construction. A few CR catapults with another few axes will do a much better job than a bunch of swords or even crossbows....

Good thing it didn't need to go that far... because it would have cost me money.
After me pestering them, they finally agreed to "tweak something" and "fix the problem".

When they agree to "tweak something" that is simply Geek-speak for "oh crap, I messed up. Better fix it before my boss finds out."
