Rnes5: To Trust a Thief. Board NES

My orders are in something like 4 times. I was kind of hoping that would make the difference, but I guess it didn't ... :king:

sorry guys been sick all weekend (and playing .hack at same time).

anyway, still only HAVE orders from:
Africa (a few times, lol)
Russia
France (ye, jason, i got yours)

so i still need orders from:
Britain (i think i remember matty saing he's gone)
Norway (i thought erik had come back, but maybe he went away again)
Germany
Rome (prety sure erez has been around, but i guess he's completely given up)

at this point i'll accept orders for the 3 smaller countries countries from allies.
i was realy hoping that between Erik and Matty they'd be able to atleast have one of em present, but guess that wasnt to be. so i might even take orders for them from allies (russia?), though more likely i'll end up doing em both (atleast they're allies, so i dont gotta fight myself) when i've got some order for all the little ones in the middle.

Yeah, that's it! Russia! Come on, Tossi, you can write Norway's orders! It'll be great! You'll get to take all your provinces back, cheap! Quick, before Roddy comes to his senses! :king:

lol. well, guess i wasnt completely over my sickness when i posted that.
or maybe its just been too long since i did anything with this game.
so no active allies around for britain and norway i guess.
yuk. that means i'm gonna have to get off my lazy bum and come up with orders for both of them.

Weird. There's a World War going on, it is not at all clear which side has the upper hand, the fate of the continent is at stake. Why is it so hard to get moves in at such an exciting time?

Sad sad... Well we can do nothing about it. Wait! We could spam-pm those damn too-lazy-to-send-orders-peoples with hate mails!!! Muhahahah!

ok, here's the situation as i see it for right now:
have orders from Africa, France, Russia.
have orders for Germany sent in by africa.

that leaves the other side:
Erez seems to have completely quit, and i doubt even checks this thread. once his chance of winning was gone he lost all interest (which i think is evil of him). So Rome's left over are NPCs
Matty's last activity on CFC was like the 9th of august, and while that is 5 days after the last update (man it was a while back), i doubt he's sending orders anytime soon. must be away somewhere. So Britain is an NPC for now.
Erik Messoy's User Profile sais his last activity was today. and the last post of his i could find were on 15th of August asking about pirating DVDs. get the feeling he's not checking up on this.
Gladinia seems to have quit officialy. not sure she was ever very interested in this, judging by her order sending record. (i happily appologise if i'm wrong).

anyway. it seems the northern allience is not gonna send orders any time soon.
so tomorow, after i'm done with the work i gotta do (hopefully be done by lunchtime), i'll do orders for the whole allience and do an update.
after that, i'll have to talk to those still in the game to see if they want to continue a fairly evenly matched, but one sided in the "having active players" department, world war.

ok. got orders from Erik. and did orders for Austria, Rome and Britain myself.

Battles:
Taken free - 28, 57, 60, 59, 62

Territory 26 - Austria 5 vs Africa 6
The first day of battle the Austrians take advantage of the African armies inexperience and even out the number advantage. On the second day they take the city with a small contingent still surviving.

Territories12, 9 - Britain 5 vs France 1
The French city defences take out a British army in territory 9, but fail to hurt em in 12.

Territory 8 - Britain 20 vs France 1
the city surrenders without a fight.

Territory 36 - Germany 1 vs Britain 10
No British losses.

Territory 34 - Africa 16 vs Britain 29
The British were expecting a two pronged attack and easily reppeled the only prog that showed up.

Territory 39 - Africa 21 vs Rome 1
The roman defenders actualy manage to inflict some damage on the African hoard invading their territory (rolled a 21 out of possible 21, lol)

Territory 58 - Germany 4 vs Rome 3
Overwhelming victory for the Germans.

Territory 56 - Rome 9 and Norway 5 vs Africa 7
The Romans and Norwegians kill off the Africans, while only loosing 2 Norwegian armies. then the 3 Norwegian armies kill off 2 Romans before being destroyed themselves.

Territory 61 - Norway 15 vs Russia 16
the Norwegians attack, and on the first day, manage to inflict no casualties on the defenders while losing two thirds of their own forces. on the second day, the remaining Norwegians kill two russian armies before being taken out.

well, that's that. i think overall the African/French side was WAY unlucky. though russia did good.

those of you that didnt send orders for this turn, i have no PM to reply to with the econ details. if you want em, ask for em (that'll tell me that you're interested in the game still).

Aaah! Roddy! I intended to sink the Austrian fleets in I and L, not just let them sit there!

<Re-reads rules>
...Peacefull Coexistance - Fleets of different nations (even ones at war) will sit side by side without fighting unless ORDERED to attack. The only Exception is that your Fleets will automaticaly attack ships that are trying to unload troops onto Provinces of YOUR nation....

<Re-reads orders, desperately looking for "sink those darn Austrians."
Doesn't find them.>

Drat! My fault. Oh, well. The upkeep is costing him more than it is costing me. I guess. Though I'd be happier with all those fleets at the bottom of the sea...

I applaud Roddy´s affords to keep this NES alive!

Gruban, your new fleets cant attack the turn they're built. and austria's fleets in L are also new. so neither could actualy initiate the attack (think of both fleets just comming out of port and never reaching eachother).

the other 4, you just said to move em in there.
the way i'd writen orders for austria, i didnt tell them to attack fleets in I either.
and i didnt think it'd be very fair of me to change either your or my orders to make the fight in I happen, cause well, cause you'd have lost it.

Orders sent!

Congratulations on the 20th update btw!

Allies: all things considered, we're doing pretty well. Let's compare this turn to 3 turns ago, Update 17, when this war really started between Britain, France, and Africa (Germany and Russia were already at war with Rome, Britain, and Norway, really).

Code:
Sides Gold Now Gold U17 Size Now Size U17
"North" 490 1057 65 63
"South" 422 375 114 110
"North": Austria+Britain+Norway+Rome
"South": Africa+France+Germany+Russia

In short, "the enemy" as a whole has spent an incredible net total of 567 gold, and grown a total of 2 size. We have actually gained a net total of 47 gold, and grown a total of 4 size.

So despite some bad luck in battles, we are actually winning this war. Whatever we're doing (mostly trading like crazy, even at the expense of losing some territory, I think), we are doing it right.

anyway. it seems the northern allience is not gonna send orders any time soon.
so tomorow, after i'm done with the work i gotta do (hopefully be done by lunchtime), i'll do orders for the whole allience and do an update.
after that, i'll have to talk to those still in the game to see if they want to continue a fairly evenly matched, but one sided in the "having active players" department, world war.

Roddy a question: I don´t want you to continue this NES if it is boring for you. If we would continue, we would a) have to search for atleast 2 new players. b)you would be the northern alliance. I wouldn´t mind, but this is much extra work for you. So If you would like to quit this I would accept your decision.

well, both erik and matty have been on aim today, and i've had very short (ie single q and a) conversations with both.
so i'm considering them both "back" from wherever the hell they were, lol.
and tossi, i try to make it a rule to be the last to give up on any game i like, ESPECIALY my own games (well, except that one... shame on me).
anyway, i'm not giving up on this game till i know for sure that there is not enough player interest for it to continue.
we havent hit that point yet. not by a long shot.
it has become a prety slow game (in terms of "between update" times) and i'm ok with that as long as i know that its still moving.
