I think I'll treat this as a swap, I can take the save after I do Hawk03, unless CBob wants it first.

I've downloaded the save just now; I won't get a chance to look at it until Thursday evening.

We now have two wars started...

Are we going to actively engage those enemies? I've just been wondering about this and wondered what others had planned to do.

I have played AW but it was as Warlord (I lost) and it was a solo game so I feel like I am staring on my left foot here.

Just my view point, but I wouldn't make plans for a big war at this point. Be ready to fight, yes. Look for chances to pick off isolated units, you bet. Have a small, mixed stack of units, say 6 to 8, to beat up on the AI's small stacks; of course.

Let them walk to us while we expand out to them. They can only move one tile at a time and we will be able to move three with roads.

I won't be able to get to this game until some next week. Tomorrow (Saturday) I serve as Election Judge for some local run-off races. I'll be at the polls all day, so no Civ time for me.

I need to be skipped this round.

I have some free time, finally. If no one objects, I can take this for a spin. Should be easy right now.

Go for it!!!

I can't wait to see where we are when you are done. it is getting more exciting now fer shure.

@ CBob - I was thinking that as well. We don't want to stir up the Num Mercs if we can avoid it- we have not yet *met* them and we need MM to get to India and Babylon.

Don't have too much fun. :D

I have this mental picture of an AW game. Meeting a new civ is like kicking an anthill. Lots of things to kill early and once that slows down it is time to dig out the queen.

I should mention a concern that I have about my game... We noticed that there was only one iron source in all those hills and mountains but it just seemed like one of those "luck of the draw" thingys.

Well I have started several games recently and ditched them all when I got to IW because I discovered that there was only one iron resource on every Pangaea that I built. (Now would I have cared if it was in my land... :hmm: ?)

I have asked in general discussions and now in tech support but it could be a bug in my games and I generated this map so who knows?

Because this is a larger map and an AW SG , I obviously have not searched the whole map this time- this may be fine.

Fortunately, our UU does not require Iron. And only one of the 1 move defenders requires it. We will need it for swords, pikes, and MDIs and later for rails, but if it depletes, it won't kill us. Besides that, it should reapper somewher else on our continent, if I understand resource depletion properly.

If memory serves me right, Berserks do Require Iron

I got into the Civilopedia in a game and there is no need for iron for Berserkers. I had to start a game to find that info as there is no place I could find that info here or in my game *manual*. what's up with that?

The Berserker is second only to the war elephant, and some might say second to none, as the most powerful UU that does not require any resurces to build. It is also available from a necesssary tech, rather than an optional. If you want a game where resources aren't the end-all and the be-all, the Vikings are your tribe.

If we have the only one on our continent, are the Carthaginians likely to come looking for it.

And if it depletes and reappears in someone else's territory... :hmm:

I don't have Excell but I think I have an excell viewer - or I can install the open office stuff again.

You don't need it, I did not put up the Spreadsheet. I put up a PDF instead. I thought I changed that note, but I see I missed it.

This is funny... I saw the PDF designation and I thought, "Wow they put excell into PDF's what will they be doing next?"

:lol::lol::lol:

I finished a truly riveting turn-set. Basically, nothing of consequence occurred. It almost made me long for an SOD to show up. Almost... Anyway, here is my turn-log:

The save:

Darski is UP!
