Role Play Challenge: Gandhi the Pacifist

How do you manage that?! With those cheap forges and his aggressive trait I keep wanting more and more hammers in units . It takes discipline to avoid turning into the 2nd coming of Shaka with him, at least for me!

LOL, you need therapy. I can just see you in Home depot looking down the tool aisle and converting the hammers into axemen with a glob of drool on your chin.

I think you're mistaken.

There is no need to convert hammers. Axemen are actually draftable, and there is sufficient pop. The axes themselves are already available. The hammers could be put to use for other things.

Regarding Stalin I have always considered him a jeckle and Hyde leader. I wonderspam continually and non-stop in Moscow while all my other cities build the armies. Best of both worlds, with a great Space Race UB if I get tired of marching armies out.

Anybody ever watch and old American Show "All in The Family"? I was raised in that type neighborhood with those type parents (My Mom was like archie, my Dad was like Edith) with older brothers like Mike Stivic. The point is those archie Bunkerisms were infact the lingo in my household, thus my spelling tends to follow suit. Justinians Cataracts, that's what I said. OR William or Dutch, or Surywhatever..... :)

Gandhi the Pacifist: Final!

Well we did it! Managed a completely peaceful game where we never built ANY military other than the one honorary guard!!! Culture victory in the mid-1650's!

First thing, the city of Susa popped to us culturally.

This helped alot as we could more easily produce confuscian missionaries.

We made a trade with ABE to keep him happy.

The AP vote finally popped up

GandhiD0002.jpg

And we were voted tops

GandhiD0003.jpg

Unfortunately we could never get enough to vote ourselves victor!

We poped another city severely depleting Darius' cities!

GandhiD0005.jpg

AFter building cathedrals/monestaries/running a Golden Age/ and popping one last Great Artist

GandhiD0007.jpg

The first 2 cities went legondary and we saved here to allow anyone else to finish it off to see the movie and the city.

Victory conditions.

Almost 50000 points on a cultural win!!!! Wow!!

Hope you all enjoyed this simple and short RPC. Peaceful wins ar every rewarding but are usually pretty fast and sometimes a little dull!

Next RPC will be

Gandhi the War-Monger! The Mahatma on a Huge Pangea map (17 AIs) with some of the most ruthless war-mongers in the game at AGRESSIVE AI!!!!!! Not much rules, basically survival with any victory condition possible with these thugs! Sort of the Asoka game merged with the Julius Caesar game!

RPC Summary:

Not a whole lot to say here.

RPC rules
1) Playing peaceful and avoiding all those unnecesary military units was not a problem, considering we had such nice neighbors.
2) Limiting the early civics were not really to difficult.

Why we won:
1) We founded and shrined three early religions!
2) Quickly spread Judaism to all AIs although Darius was a little stubborn.
3) We played a passive agressive game. We very early determined that culture was the way to go and established three strong culture cores.
4) We were first to liberalism and then stayed at 100% culture all game working those cottages as culture. A major leap of faith in diplomacy!

I am also glad to finally have a culture game where we can demonstrate where MOST of the culture came from working cottages at 100% culure. We did get cathedrals/wonders/and 2 Great Artists but the majority of culture here was from those cottages!

Hope you all enjoyed it!

:crazyeye: So much culture flipping.

I've never culture-flipped many cities, because when I go for culture, I tend to be in isolation. This leads to me founding 4 or 5 religions for Cathedrals, and winning without making contact. Especially if the opponent is somebody like Tokugawa who can't tech to save his life. But congrats on another successful RPC. I'm looking fowards to the next one, but I don't have BTS, so I can't shadow. I'll just read.

This seems to be a good place to ask this - when you are aiming for a cultural victory, and you get a GP after you have founded Hinduism, Judaism and Confucianism, what is a better use for it - to build a shrine or to found christianity.

Same question holds true for the next GP. Should he be used to found Islam or is it better to build another shrine.

The advantage of founding a religion is that you get another religion which means more culture + more cathedrals. If you build shrines, you get more income and more culture but less than that from cathedrals.

I have been founding more religions and have got victory but want to know others' opinion

Nice finish date Mad.
if you look at the victory screen it looks like Mansa was also trying far a cultural win.
what happened to hattie by the way? barbs or lincoln?

@Sanjay: I think you have to look and see how much the shrine is making and if you need the gold, if not I would grab another religion

Lincoln was pretty far away from Hatty's capital so I have to assume it was Barbs. I can check tonight.

Gandhi the Warmonger?

Who will be in, besides the usual warheads like Monty, Shaka and Genghis?

Napoleon and Hannibal would nicely fit in there.

Thats one heck of a list but I think you should add Nappy, Justinian and Saladin, just to make sure you add that extra bit of religious war! For the last one, maybe cyrus or hannibal since they war and tech well.
