Shadow Game!
Start to 1395 AD finish:
Start to 1395 AD finish:
Spoiler :
I settled in place and went for hindu while building a settler. I got hindu. Settled the marble/fish/wheat city to the SW. I drooled seeing marble for oracle.
As promised, I got hunting and agriculture next. Each city made a fast worker while I teched mono then priesthood. I went writing after priesthood.
Masonry is needed for mono (i'd picked up the wheel somewhere in there) so I quarried the marble and roaded it to the capitol. I made the oracle WITHOUT BRONZE WORKING. Meanwhile I...fogbusted with mass scouts from the marble city. I actually let a barb warrior attack a warrior while leaving my city defenseless at one point - bit of a risk. One other barb warrior died to a scout fortified on a hill with guerrilla. After that the AIs (freddy and darius) expanded and the scouts fogbusted enough that I never had to deal with barbs again!
Actually, that isn't true, but it comes much later and is more comical than a problem
.
I DID manage to found judaism, and as a result of making a temple was able to get a prophet out even sooner than anticipated, so I bulbed theology. I went for literature after that and built the AP en route. Here I am at 160 AD:
And the tech trade situation - note that while my teching isn't great winning races to religious techs gives you some good trade opportunities. Prioritizing literature for TGL is nice too because as I've noted, I have marble.
As you can see from above, I actually managed to get EVERYONE IN CONTACT BUDDHIST, INCLUDING ME. I built the AP in Judaism - the religion no AI had. Yeah, at that point I realized I'd managed a very high AP diplo win chance. Peaceful AIs in the same religion - I'm so scared
.
So basically the rest of the game was bulbing divine right, building a few wonders, and teching to optics. I met the final AIs - lincoln and Hatty - in confucianism, and they were backwards. Confucianism and buddhism are the only 2 religions I didn't found.
Religious spread path: MM (friendly - would spread a lot on his own probably), Freddy (friendly), Darius (he had an ice city at 1 pop that wasn't spreading anything quickly), then hatsheput/lincoln/liz simultaneously (didn't want to screw around with them - liz had gone FR and the other 2 were still confucian. How did that go? On the first AP win vote:
.
I'll just post the pictures of score and demographics from the end:
Fun, fast game. Scouts fogbust ftw
. Founding 5 religions gave me SO MUCH CULTURE pressure. In 3 cases I didn't need a monument - I "just used a holy city"
.
Ok, back to NC Joao now.
Edit: Oh yeah, I actually saw a barb galley. It was chasing an english work boat. It went clean through my territory, never attacking anything, continuing to chase that work boat in a circle around the continent until someone eventually killed it
. For my part, I used a workboat to fogbust the only spot that I wasn't fogbusting with cities already until I settled it later. Screw 3.17's barb galleys in this game! Ha!
