Role Play Challenge: Pollution Bull

Pollution Bull: Part IV

Moving right along with a rather peaceful game. A big surprise considering our neighbors! Do not fear, a look at the segment near the end will any ideas of a pacifists Native American game!

First of all, the techpath!: Math/Construction/Monotheism/Code of Laws and started Calendar.

Once again you sort of see where I am going here!

First we used our Dogs with a few added Swordsmen to capture the last of our desired Barbarian.

BullD0000.jpg

BullD0001.jpg

That was the last city we added. Buddhist shrine or not, our economy is stretching quite a bit. We got a little more gold whipping a few walls at 1 turn left for gold overflow.

We also finished scoping out our continent

BullD0002.jpg

Looks like Shaka has about as mush lands as us, while Napolean is in a whole although he has wonderspammed quite a bit.

We met another AI, yet another Hindu AND techer.

BullD0004.jpg

Well, two financial techers are Hindu brothers while us war-mongers are Buddhists. Let's see which will win out!

We then start making some trades

BullD0005.jpg

BullD0006.jpg

Yes, so generosity to the Hindu slime but we need the cash and really want to get those religious techs as we have a Prophet sitting in the capital waiting to bulb theology.

And once we researched Monotheism.

BullD0007.jpg

And lo and behold......

BullD0008.jpg

So we founded Christianity, and notice that it went into Monty's old capital for a double Holy city! I quickly added a priest specialist to the 2 Scientists in the capital, hoping to pop out just one more Prophet.

We adjusted Civics although I wish I had waited 1 or 2 turns. My initial idea was to start mass chopping CR II cats, CR II Swords, and Flanking II HAs.

And since we founded Christianity you can see we have a Monopoly on the tech

BullD0010.jpg

SInce I have an urgent plan I decided to have a theology fire sale.

BullD0011.jpg

BullD0012.jpg

Currency provided a very big boost allowing us to tech Code of Laws faster and Spam even more military. We also got the next GP

BullD0013.jpg

So we shrined Christianity also, then started building a MArket in the double Holy City.

And as you can see, we have been massing some troops on the Zulu fronteir.

BullD0014.jpg

We saved here after on more trade

BullD0015.jpg

Which showed us that

BullD0016.jpg

Shaka is doing worse than us and does NOT have HBR to damage out catapults.

And the Power numbers

BullD0017.jpg

SO the Native Americans are set!

Pollution is ready to extract vengence on Shaka in the name of past failed RPCs!

Many more units will be on the way soon as we continue to chop every remaining forrest, and we have ALOT since old Polllution Bull was focusing on tile improvements first!

My plan is to make a path directly AT the Zulu capital, taking 2 cities first and severely crippling him. The key is to keep Napolean from attacking our southern flank!

Once the Zulu are gone, we can wipe out the French, rebuild the economy, and trash the environment!

I expect blood Madscientist, I EXPECT BLOOD!

Probably should trade away Code of Laws and maybe Mono for Metal Casting before the war, don't you think?

If you can get MC for COL and Mono then by all means. Likely not going to happen. I would not trade HBR to Shaka before the war with the risk of of seeing HA coming at me. We know he has horses and would likely have chariots around he could upgrade on the cheap. Perhaps he might part with the tech after you've beaten him down a few pegs.

I would suggest selling Mono for his cash. It means he has less or none for upgrades or bribing Napster. Seems he won't have techs to offer the Frenchman either.

I know that you have the Buddhist shrine and all that, but would you consider going Hindu if the opportunity arises? Seems you'll be at war with the other Buddhists anyway, and it would be helpful to trade with the big techers. Perhaps you'll wait until after your Shaka beat down to help ensure that Nap won't attack (not that this has helped before).

I guess this sums up most posts, so I will respond here to all comments

I do not think Chariots can be upgraded to HAs.

Adopting Hinduism may eb an option later, but right now I think I need that second promotion from Theocracy to deal with the Agressive Shaka and the Charismatic Napolean.

I have no problem with trading with Shaka, but I am not sure that extra 10 turns of forced peace is worth it. On one hand I can built a stronger army, on the other hand so can Shaka.

Depends on whether the kids finish their projects this afternoon or tonight as to whether I play this out today or tomorrow.

There is only forced peace if you demand or beg something for free and they accept. (or vice versa) Regular trades don't create treaties, you can declare on the very same turn.

chariots can't be upgraded to HAs
My suggestion would be bribing shaka to war with someone else, diverts his troops and the mutual struggle bonus will wipe out the backstab penalty

are you sure trading gives a ten turn can't declare, i thought that was just for demands/gifts. i think the exception might be open borders but i'm not sure

Pollution Bull: Part V

I decided to move along with the war real fast. I tried to get metal casting for CoL and Monotheims but Shaka would not take it and wanted HBR. No good there, but we did get this

BullE0000.jpg

And we certainly could use the gold.

We then marched our army towards the border and called on our good Zulu friend

BullE0001.jpg

YOU SHALL PAY SHAKA!!! This is for Charlemagne, and Peter, and Gandhi, and other RPCs I can no longer remain. If we lose this RPC it will NOT be because of this guy.

Meanwhile we used our Great Prophet for

BullE0002.jpg

Too bad we cannot also build a grocer in the double holy city!

Anyway, back to the war. We took the closest Zulu city.

BullE0003.jpg

We did an excellent of conserving catapults, losing maybe 2 the entire segment.

Now in our empire we concentrated on only 2 things. Building military (chopping ALOT) and whipping courthouses as we could. We still ran into some serious economical problems.

But Sitting Bull does not want to hear about health or Gold, he wants results! So we sent out stack off to Shaka's #2 city.

BullE0004.jpg

Shaka wasted alot of good units attacking that stack on a hill! Cut his power doen a good amount.

BullE0005.jpg

At this point Shaka has taken a good hit on Power.

BullE0006.jpg

As the treasury looked real bad (we had NO courthouses yet) we bummed 200 gold from our friend Napolean and changed civics to gain us 2 turns from losing gold

BullE0007.jpg

We then got a random event to improve relations with the French.

BullE0008.jpg

Although rather tedious, I plan to show EVERY SCREENSHOT from every conquered Zulu city.

BullE0009.jpg

We took another city

BullE0010.jpg

Which happens to be Shaka's lone metal source on the continent although he may have some off-shore. What he does have is war elephants, but our initial damage is too severe for him to recover.

I was then surprised to get Pacal cautious and willing to make a trade.

BullE0011.jpg

Heritary Rule goes a long way, and who does not like the King of the Native Americans!

So we took another cirty, claiming alot of dye.

BullE0012.jpg

AT this point we regrouped, healed and caught our breathe. Meanwhile we got another Great General which we used for a supermedic Horse Archer.

BullE0013.jpg

Another look at the power numbers

BullE0014.jpg

Shaka is not a dead fish and our power is keeping the other AIs in line. Not bad considering teh world has longbows while we still have archers!

AFter healing we started up our Stack of Doom again, this time for a direct assault on the Zulu capital.

BullE0015.jpg

BullE0016.jpg

Shaka had just finished the Mauseleum in the capital for us, what a guy!

We also took the coastal city.

BullE0017.jpg

One thing to note, Shaka has at least 1 off-shore city making eliminating him rather difficult at this time.

Of course this did NOT stop us from claiming more Zulu lands.

BullE0019.jpg

To Be Continued...............

Pollution Bull: Part V conitnued

KABOOM!!

BullE0020.jpg

And tacitus came arround to declare the baddest leader on the earth

BullE0021.jpg

THAT is what I like to see!!!

After finially finishing Fuedalism (by the way, that was our entire techpath) we opted for an obscene amount of XP

BullE0022.jpg

And we finally brought Shaka to the negotiation table.

BullE0023.jpg

Machinery and a vassal for peace! You bet, and we have a very efficient war-monger at our side! It also keeps three Zulu cities on teh French Border, thus Napolean has to go through Shaka to get to us. By the way, Napolean has enough on his hands and is the worse enemy of Darius.

The funniest thing though was immediately after getting epace with Shaka, we met the last leader.

BullE0024.jpg

Sure what the hell. Another War-Monger for us to deal with!

Looking at the map

BullE0025.jpg

THAT is a good amount of land, and we have done a good job of cutting down forrests to the north. The south has plenty of production for the Native American Axes, we just need many more workers to completely deforrest the area.

Looking at Techs

BullE0026.jpg

Not as bad as I feared, and noone has education YET!. Perhaps we can pop a GS to bulb it if we can ever stop whipping our population away.

And a look at victory conditions.

BullE0027.jpg

Pacal is not slouch in this game!

So here we are!

My plan right now is to make nice with Napolean. Keep the military WAY up (CG III longbows baby!). Remove all vegetation, and start looking to tech to space! We may get involved in some wars later, but we need to recover the economy before we can Start Polluting Native America!

One last point. I decided to enter world builder and eliminated any graneries from conquered Zulu lands. Stupid concept, just eat the damned food and the hell with tomorrow!

Wow, that's quite a few cities. Maybe you should start spread Christianity and Buddhism across the empire to help your economy out a bit.

Oh.....my......GOD......was that a stack of 30 troops in 450 AD!!!:wow:HOW DID you do that!! Jeez i barely get 15 troops. Nice job mad! This is why you're me favorite!!:goodjob: Always entertaining and destructive! I wanted blood. I got it!

Pollution Bull: Part VI

A rather long and dull segment here. Just re-establishing ourselves in the economy and making a decision how to approach the rest of the game. Some of my ideas on this at the end.

To start, the techpath went: Civil Service/Paper/Education (mostly bulbed)/Philosophy/Guilds/Banking/Economics/Liberalism/Gunpowder/ most of Printing Press.

We started by maing a trade with Ragnar.

BullF0000.jpg

When possible we trade with the Vikings and Zulu first. The Napolean and finally PAcal. We kept the Tech leader Darius out of loop.

Here is a good view of our remaining Army as well as the GS we used to bulb education.

BullF0001.jpg

Once we got education we saw we did not have a monopoly on it.

BullF0003.jpg

Rather than trade it away, we found other ways to get some tech backfilling.

BullF0004.jpg

There was a minor war between Ragnmar and DArius which did not stop us from trading with the Vikings.

BullF0006.jpg

we did manage to get a map showing the world on the other side.

BullF0007.jpg

Ragnar/Darius/Pacal all on the same continent. Yes we will continue to trade military techs to Ragnar.

But we still traded with our Buddhist Brothers.

BullF0008.jpg

BullF0009.jpg

And still Ragnar

BullF0010.jpg

And back to Shaka

BullF0011.jpg

So by trading with the weaker tech Ais we managed to catch up with the 2 tech leaders.

To further catchup we used the next GP

BullF0012.jpg

For a Golden Age (remember we get 24 turns coutesy of Shaka building the Mausoleum), and adjusted civics.

BullF0013.jpg

The capital is a strict GP farm so Bureacracy is rather useless. Fuedalism to clear out alot of the forrests/jungle in Shaka's old lands, and Free Market for the extra trade route.

We managed another great trade with Ragnar

BullF0014.jpg

Once we teched Liberalism and adopted FS and FR. At the end of the Golder Age we onc emore adjusted civics

BullF0015.jpg

Back to theocracy to get Napolean Pleased and build some stronger military.

We saved here, on the verge of finishing Printing Press.

Techs

BullF0016.jpg

Power

BullF0017.jpg

Demographics

BullF0018.jpg

Religion

BullF0019.jpg

And a view of our cities

BullF0020.jpg

Most are without Forrests/jungles now and you can see unhealthiness is starting to rear it's ugly head. Also beakers are pretty much obtained from all cities with none really a scienc epowerhouse.

So a few questions/comments

1) Do we move and take out Napolean? I can pop out a dozen or so trebs and smash him pretty fast. My guess is he is a problem before the end of the game.

2) I am planning on a space Race win to really play up the pollution angle as mush as possible.

3) What is everyone's opinion on the food corps? That fit in with the RPC or whould we adopt State Property when we get communism?

You can keep your citizens unhealthy but you can't deny food can you ?
Go Sushi you still can't grow your cities big enough

Nappy looks way to clean and well shaven to stay alive. Come on, you are a dirty bull. A nice smelling Frenchman is like a red cloth on you. Smash, crash, maim. Can I get a second vasal??? Say Amen!!!

Food corps are fun. Abundance of food in your cities but they they are still small because of the unhealthy. It will be cool to see how much unhealthiness you can cause in a city.

When I saw the screenshot from the other continent I was like Holy smokes Darius is big. Mad is screwed. Then I realised half was Darius and the other half Pacal. Damn those colors.

Napoleon: Kill him or make him a vassal, but don't tolerate an enemy on your own continent.

Corps: State Property all the way. If you allow private individuals to own land, they might do something weird with it, like plant trees! :)

Nonono, We want corps. We want to see as much pollution as possible so cities need to be big. Boooh to state property!!! Way too clean. :) :p
