Mad Scientists, A New World Order: Taking Control of the Weak Minded
Brennus peacefully led his people along the river, considering where to establish a permanent city. "Ah, the Celtics cna handle many civics changes for we are a Spiritual people, surely upon reflection we can understand great mysteries and eprhaps find an organized religion!" The Celtic people are happy to follow, and all is good.
SUDDENLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
A flash of light comes from the sky, striking the brawny Celtic leader. Brennus Screams in pain and covers his eyes.
GET UP!
Suddenly Brennus hears a voice in his head issuing commands, move there, settle here, build that, research that. His simple mind is confused, "Why does my head hurt?"
BECAUSE I AM IN YOUR HEAD DOLT! MY NAME IS MAD SCIENTIST AND I COME FROM FAR AWAY. THINGS ARE GOING TO DIFFERENT THIS TIME AROUND.
"Huh, different. We are just starting"
SILENCE!
Brennus screams in pain again as the Celtic people look on nervously, yet helplessly as their beloved leader squirms on the ground.
NOW LET'S UNDERSTAND EACH. I AM IN YOUR HEAD AND NOT LEAVING ANYTIME SOON. LISTEN TO ME AND THINGS WILL GO WELL. DON'T LISTEN AND THIS HAPPEN.
Once again Brennus screams.
GOT IT?
"Er, got it" As the big Celtic rubs his head. "You talk in my head, I listen"
EXCLELLENT. NOW LET'S GET STARTED
So Brennus, under the guidance of a mysterious yet amazingly intelligent voice, instructs the scout to move eastward to see what land is there.
NOT VERY INTERESTING. JUST SETTLE BIG GUY.
Forrests, a river, 4 floodplains, and cows. well the ocean is close to the west, less area to have to defend.
Almost Immediately the scount comes across
Shaka, Still Aggresive and Expansive.
Brennus says "Hey hey, nice man!"
HE IS NOT NO NICE MAN. CONTINUE ON
Meanwhile the Celtics start researching Animal Husbandry while buildign a worker. Pretty routine stuff. Brennus initially wanted to research an eraly religion but a few zaps in the old noggin got him to understand that food and production ar emuch more important that contemplating the heavens. Keep it simple my friend and you will be in good shape!
The scout managed to pop one hut before getting eaten.
well that solidifies what I was thinking. Time to go get the Great Wall, looking to get a Great Spy early and I think a strong early espionage game is in order! Of course early military is probably much more important with Shaka, but this is Epic speed and I fear him a lot less than my old marathon days.
After Animal Husbandry we find
Horses within one culture border pop! The culture from the eventual Great wall will certainly help get them faster.
Soon the next leader shows his face
Gilgamesh is still Creative but he is Sectretive like ourselves. Given his early and cheap Ziggaret he can certainly be an espionage threat, if the AI knows how to leverage it!
So the Celts are moving ahead, researching mining/agriculture, bronze Working, wheel, archery. Yes archery, I do not trust Shaka very much.
After BW we send the Celtics into slavery, and many wonder why their gentle leader would adopt such a savage civic. Celtia erupts into Anarchy for 1 turn.
AS we finish researching Bronze Working
So to the north right on the coast with a crab resource. Being Secretive and with a lighthouse that is 6 food.
However, before getting the copper, a much better city presents itself
Vienne, right near the Zulu borders. Being on a hill helps and two gold with farms and cows will be very useful early on.
Just as we finish archery the Great wall is completed
I saved here looking for advice on how to continue. Given Brennus has the Secretive trait I plan to leverage that, so I prefer to limit cottages or even avoid them. Farm everything and go from there, perhaps a farm and hammer economy from the classic Brennus RPC! I am open for all options here.
Espionage we adjust
Already we have an edge on Shaka and the more cities we get the more eps.
Obviously Shaka has to go especially since he is so clase, but I think we need to expand first
One good southern city will block him that way
And to the North
Well the river coastal tile can eventually capture the crab and cows and likely block Shaka off. The crab copper is more preferable though.
So do we settle the next 2 cities to block off Shaka or go straight for the copper and
Also, what do we research and build next??? Writing seams logical for libraries and two scientists each as we have the extra food and also the next step to alphabet for spies. By the way I think spies are also half price for a Secretive leader, but not sure. We will find out later, like I said I do not exactly know what I am doing here!
Now in Bribrate, do we start spamming workers and settlers, or get a bit of defense up first?
Looking for advice!
