Rome First Look (Trajan) Video

Ok, kinda unsure here...
one hand really bland abilities. very weak flavour. but on the other hand really perfectionist civ. you will always tweak your cities. from the startposition to the fast travel via roads to fight on multiple fronts.
this is like japan a puzzle in a puzzle game. (thx unstacking feature)

I like it a lot.

Then again I've been saying that about MOST of the revealed civs, so maybe that's a good sign . . .

You people don't know how to accept the fact that everyone has the right to express his/her own opinion and underline what dissapoints him/her about the game.
I very much accept the right of anybody to express their opinion. I don't have to agree with their opinion or think of it as a reasonable position to hold.

Criticizing (or more correctly mocking) someones preferences/likes/dislikes/suggestions and the right to express them in a thread is unacceptable.
So far I have not received an infraction for my post, so apparently, unless there's currently no mod around, it was acceptable enough that either nobody has reported it or the mods didn't think it was a big deal.

And why would it be a big deal? I wasn't even making fun at the author of the original thread (Which I just realized is you. :D That's pretty petty.), I was merely poking fun at the topic of the discussion.

There are many people on this thread that don't like some minutiae about Trajan or Rome as they are depicted in Civ vi....Just because I made a thread about it I deserve to be called prickish pedant,wiseguy..etcAlong with Eagle Pursuit you have a nice attitude!
Funny, I didn't call you any of this, although after that post I would have a lot of adjectives to add, but let's not sink to that level.

I thought that was just a light-hearted jab. If you think it was a severe mocking, you have never been severely mocked.

But anyway . . .

This is veering off a bit here....

Anyway, who would be a good civ to counter Rome's early expansionist tendencies? If I have Rome as a neighbor I'm going to want to knock down their snowball as early as possible.

Scythia? Aztecs?

Germany naturally. The Roman settlers need protection and their new cities will be vulnerable. They are linked together by road for easy invasion into the heartland.

You may not directly said it but your post implied that people shouldn't bother with minor stuff about the leaders appearance just like I did in my thread
And the point is?

You actually said Does he have the correct leaf helmet? My original post was about Pericles' helmet so that's kind of inappropriate don't you think?People have the right to have any opinion they want.
Yeah, and I'm of the opinion that the whole discussion about the helmet was pretty ridiculous, hence my joke about the thing.

I'm still not sure how that translates into me trying to "deny you the right to hold whatever opinion you want".

I was not talking to you good sir. So I would appreceate if you'd leave me out of it. I was directly addressing Ryika, not you.

The point is that the legion's intrinsic advantage is not large compared to the other bonuses available, for example cards or America's UA. In Civ4 and 5, the praetorian/legion was so overwhelmingly good that you didn't need to worry about anything else. Barracks and honour were simply over kill. In Civ6, it's more nuanced. Yes, Rome has an intrinsic edge but only a small one. A neighbour which is intent on invading Rome can stack the cards in their advantage. In Civ5 this was hopeless, if Rome came at you with legions and ballista, there was very little you could do but pray the AI was terrible.

I see your point.
To be fair, though, I do see a big difference between Civ V and Civ VI, in that the Civs (so far) in Civ VI appear to be much more subtle or nuanced in their abilities and advantages. That opinion may change once the actual game play situations (the Devil in the Details) develop, but it's my impression so far.

So, in Civ V the Romans had a steamroller military almost regardless of what else Rome did. In Civ VI, Rome CAN have a steamroller, but only if they work on it with a Military-oriented government and other 'additions' t the advantages the Legion already has.

I'd still not like to be that neighbor who was trying to invade Rome, though - so far I haven't seen any signs of a military unit before Gunpowder in Civ VI that could take Fortified Legions without a lot of help...

Legions have an almost 15% strength advantage over Swordsmen...that seems like a significant advantage to me.

Have we heard anything about UUs requiring resources in general? I thought I'd heard something a while ago about then not, but I honestly don't remember.

You've gotta remember, though, that proportions aren't the important thing in VI, differences are. (I.e., the percentage advantage doesn't matter)

Alright people... Take it outside. Leave my Romans alone. You all want to brawl, take it to the Field of Mars. That is uncivilized behavior for a discussion about Rome. This is the forum, not the Senate house. Besides, true Romans have thick skin and do not let petty insults and hand gestures upset them. We just sell revenge... Err, justice.

Anyway, I, personally, don't mind Trajan or how they have portrayed him. I am anxious to get my hands on Civ VI. With my Legions, no one will stop me.

True, but I think my point stands...that strength difference is nothing to sneeze at.
