You support all his policies? The removal of the minimum wage? Commence the deregulation that caused the current ecomonic recession?
I didn't say all of them.
I have no problem with the minimum wage, but I do oppose attempts to increase it because the higher the min. wage is, the less people can get jobs. Teenagers cannot get jobs when a living wage is required.
I also oppose the Federal minimum wage because different states and local areas have different minimum standards of living than others. The minimum wage should certainly be higher in NYC than it is in Mississippi, obviously. So I oppose Federal regulation of something that only makes sense to regulate at the local level.
As for deregulation, of course I support it. The Federal government should be cut to a bare minimum. They are spending our money out of control and trying to raise taxes to pay for it when they should instead put a check on their own spending.
Ron Paul gets that this applies to foreign wars as much as, if not more than, domestic policies.
But as noted by Something Awful your "I told you so" is a failured statement. Something Awful is correct in right in their dislike of Ron Paul. A figure once said that the exstream capitalist liberterians are more dangerous to liberties then the so called statists. We Brits know what cuts bring. I am afraid that the liberterian model will not save the ecomony. In the end, what ever happens, Something Awful will get the last lol.
Libertarianism is about letting people make their own choices rather than allowing the government to control your life. You seem to think the government is the solution to everything. Is my impression wrong?
Honest doesn't mean "doesn't hold terrible ideas on most key issues".
It doesn't mean that, although a true liberal would like his ideas on a great many things. Even if we ignore the economy and foreign policy and limit "liberal" to "Agreeing with libertarians on domestic, non-fiscal issues," you should still appreciate Ron Paul's views on ending the drug war, pro-gun views, being against warrantless searches, being opposed to policies that leave 1/100th of our populace in cells, and whatnot.
Truth be told, there are a lot of good reasons you SHOULD'NT separate monetary and social freedom, but the fact that more liberals don't give him credit for his social views, and perhaps even his foreign policy views, is indeed surprising.
