RPC, The Next Generation: Dr. Livingston Discovers Aztec Inbreeding.

So, Mad, what changed your mind about playing this kind of game? IIRC, after the 7 Suryas game you swore off ever trying that again. I'll follow this one with interest, of course.

Well, all I can say is that there is three letters infront of my name for a reason :D

Well, I guess this'll render the whole "Jaguars aren't as good as regular Swordsmen" argument moot

I'll follow this with interest. I don't see myself shadowing, though. After all, I'm presently working through my own issues with all leaders sharing the same name. "Neal would like Neal to stop trading with Neal." Aargh.

at least there is Neal of Egypt, MEal of Chine etc... Myself all the Montezuma's are from the Aztec clan!

Sidney Magal, I know. dalamb has corrected and you should use his save.

If anybody wants a shadow save with different names for the individual AIs, I can make one (or two, given the need for Monarch+ and Prince-). But apparently that would ruin some of the charm.

You will get the idea once the first Montezuma asks me to declare war on Montezuma. Diplomacy can be interesting.

Which reminds me, I better stop at the wineshop before starting this game.

So let's assume you accept Montezuma's offer to go to war against Montezuma. How do you know where to send your troops??? :)

Exactly!!!!!

Ooooh - city names  Do you get 18 Tenochtitlans, or do all the Aztecs choose the next name in a single list?

All use the same Aztec list, so it's going to run out of names pretty soon ;) After that a random (AFAIK) Civ list is chosen for the subsequent names.

As far as city names, expect Bejing, London, Washington, etc.....

Mad you're going to be doubly mad after this. Best get two bottles...... :D

I'm just your computer smoke and fry from all the units running around from 17 OTHER montys! Personally, I think you should just focus on tech early on, and smash everyone else with some blitz tanks!

It's not that hard to tell who you're declaring on/at war with. Only the stoptrade and DoW requests can't identify targets, but one can intentionally ignore all of those or just accept requests from monty(s) in the same religion.

Of course anyone you're at war with has city names in red, simple. I've actually played this to around 1300 AD and it's been interesting.

Dr. Livingston: Meet the Montezumas!

Dr. Livingston wakes up with a splitting headache. "What the hell happened?" he asks. Then it all came back to him, "The damned Witch Doctor", I can see his face now

WitchDoctor.jpg

"Damn, he cursed me! For doubting his abilities. Exile to the land od Idiots" Dr. Livingston remains sitting holding his head in his hands, and remembers the ltas words of the Witch Doctor 'You can return by one of three way: kill all the idiots, flle from the idiots into the sky, or become King Idiot.' And Dr. Livingston started to faint as he heard the with doctors laughing in his ears.

Now he waks up to THIS. And just who are the Idiots. "I am sure I will find out" he mutters. A scout approaches "orders sir?" and then a tribe of families appear "Sir, where are we to go". Oh boy!

Livingston looks around and sees alot of deer, "Well, we can hunt, this is as good a spot as we can get and the hill offers some defense from the "idiot'"

LivA0000.jpg

So we start by building a worker, sending the scout exploring, and start researching Animal Husbandry.

Things start looking up very early as we have a nice 3 food/1 hammer tile to work

LivA0001.jpg

While our scout gets 55 gold, Xp (woodsman II and still exploring at the save), AND

LivA0002.jpg

At this point Livingston meets one of the Natives

LivA0003.jpg

"so that's what an idot is" he mutters under his breathe. Pleased to meet you Monty, 50,000 slaves, my that's some productivity you got there!

Livingston quickly became dismayed as he met more and more of these Montys. Apparently the entire land is infected with some member of this bizare Aztec clan, all the way down to the hidous skull around their neck.

A little more exploring whows one of these Aztecs are real close

LivA0004.jpg

And to the north we find another Monty

LivA0005.jpg

After Animal Husbandry we take a look at the land

LivA0006.jpg

Damned no horses! Alot of deer and silver, but that's pretty much it. We decide to send out scout a little further south.

LivA0007.jpg

EUREKA! Easy to get with the first settler.

By the way, our build order was quite different than usual, as was the tech path

Tech went: Animal Husbandry/Archery and saved!
Build went: Worker/Barracks/archer!

WOW, is Livingston acting like an idiot already? well, when in Rome......

But this is NOT Rome and the good Doc has a plan.

But for now I saved here looking for a discussion on what to research next and what to do. Available techs

LivA0008.jpg

Also note the second horse resource incase we lose the first

So let's look at the Aztec clan

LivA0010.jpg

We met 8 already!

However, as a family they are rather indifferent to each other

LivA0011.jpg

Although 1 has discovered Buddhism at least

And as far as figuring out the favorite civics

LivA0012.jpg

Must be a BUG addition here. Last time all the Surys had OR as the favorite civic even though the leaders played differently.

So what to research next????

My thinking

1) We got early AH and the wheel, so chariots a plenty. I say we crush one of the Monty's under our wheels of death.

2) Next tech??? Hell, I am seriously thinking of HBR after Mining (for the silver mine). On Monarch let's just see how much damage a severe HA rush around the world can accomplish

3) We have ample Deer all over. I say we leverage that and hit writing for a strong SE game. I am also thinking of leaving ALOT of forrests alone for either superior defenses or later chopping.

Some unorthodox thinking for a very unorthodox game!
