RR17 - Team A

the quick availability of good siege makes attacking a viable option more than in normal starts
A very good point. Overall the human handles siege better, so getting those early benefits the human.

Ok I updated the report ... and Thrar is UP , with LK on deck.

I'm also very disappointed with the AI performance in this game but again it just shows that the AI was not coded for anything besides "standart" conditions and even there it does the sad show that we know ... in this particular case we simply took them the time to build units and it ended with paper thin armies ( and we actually could had been far more aggressive in the buildup since we didn't drafted + gave them 50 turns ). And we actually didn't exploited much the worse weakness of the AI in this era, that is it's complete inability of understanding 2 move units ( well, I actually used it a little in a not conventional fashion, when I sent the cav stack we had in Vandal against Ectabana to draw the floating defenders there. I had no intention of actacting that city ( and I didn't ), but that allowed me to pick two cities with light garrisons and made sure that there would not be a bunch of fortified units in Persepolis ) ...

Anyway, let's just finish it. It can't take much more than the next two sets ...

Got it, but haven't looked at it yet. Will post a PPP some time later.
Don't think we need much of a plan - just go smash

T0 - Rolo set this up nicely, so all I had to do was pull the trigger. I didn't bother reviewing city assignments any more than a quick overview, everything's on military so should be fine.

I decided that waiting is unnecessary and hit Chichen Itza with cavalry. Some flankers take the two infantry defenders down to a manageable strength before they're finished off along with the two defending cavalries. Total losses: 2 rookie cavs.

More than lightly wounded units move to CI for defense and healing, while the bulk of the stack including tons of siege moves through the forest towards Mutal.

T1 - Army moves and heals. I tell most of our workers to automate trade network because I don't want to keep telling them what to do. Anyway what matters is mostly railroads.

T2 - IBT the Maya got cocky, destroyed an artillery on the move near their borders and wasted a cavalry counterattacking CI.

Mutal receives cannon bombardment followed by airstrikes (only 4 so far, more coming up for future conquests) followed by artillery fire.

At the loss of one airship, two artilleries, one cavalry, we take out the bulk of Lincolns forces.

Mutal has the Pentagon, plenty of espionage buildings and two settled GEs. Nice, but won't matter any more now. Lincoln the fool still refuses to talk. After some deliberation I send in the cavalry against Lakamha to strike next turn with limited air support.

I decide to give Combustion+Artillery to HC for Electricity, several others have those techs anyway. I then dial up Washington who hands out Bio and Communism for the same price. Bottom line is more food to our cities and slightly more commerce.

T3 - 19 cavalry arrive at Lakamha. The 4 airships in range strike, then the flankers go in. To get shot down one by one without making a dent. WTH? Eventually, after 5 losses and many retreats, the two infantry and one machine gun are defeated and the city is ours. Lincoln, of course, keeps refusing to talk.
I then discover the answer to "is it too much to ask for a little bit of luck this turn?" while picking off stragglers. Unfortunately for two of our infantries, it was "yes".

T4 - FP completes somewhere in the SW. Good call Rolo (I didn't even see that being built). In other news, Lincoln still refuses to talk. Stacks of artillery and infantry roll towards Uxmal and Mayapan.

T5 - At the start of this turn, Lincoln finally accepts the inevitable.

I immediately return Lakamha because its borders mean we can more conveniently attack Babylon. Or...

We're at 63.76% land area, out of 64% needed. I'm not sure how many tiles that is, unfortunately.

I turn up the culture slider to 100% (we can sustain it for one turn). With that, next turn we should get:
- 8 tiles taken from vassals at Persepolis (i.e. a 4 tile gain for Dom if I understand it correctly)
- 10 tiles from vassals at Chichen Itza (i.e. 5 for us)
- 2 tiles at Nagara Jayasri
- 5 tiles at Prague/Nuremberg/Augsburg (combined)
- 2 tiles at Vienna
We could return Mutal to its owner, which should be 10ish tiles for our new vassal (i.e. 5 for us) instantly. It would take 4 turns to come out of revolt otherwise.

If my calculations are correct, that's an expected 18 tiles net for us next turn, or 23 if we return Mutal. Is that enough?
There is a frustrating amount of tiles (easily another 30) two turns away, including Vandal coming out of its badly timed Persian revolt, but we can only sustain 100% culture for one turn. There is some money to be had on the trade table (although not enough to run 100% for another turn) and I set the relevant cities to build culture, which might be enough for at least some of them (in 2 turns).

If it turns out the land isn't enough yet, our troops are ready to declare on Babylon. We have about 20 infantry, artillery and cavalry each, backed by 8 airships to strike Nippur. They do have a bunch of stuff there, though:

I pause the set here to wait for input. Are there any experienced tile counters among us? Take a look at the save!

I would be shocked if it doesn't end next turn. .24% with that amount of tiles you show being added should be a lock to end it.

I think we're good as well.

T5 - continued.
I move around a bunch of units, then return Mutal to its owner Lincoln. This alone raises our domination percentage to 64.32%.

I save the game and press Enter.

It's 1943 AD, turn 113. Save at the end of the previous turn is attached, just hit Enter.
Final percentage is a comfortable 67.23%.

Hooray, we're done. This turned out to be quite different from what I expected. Congrats to Team B for their fast finish.
