RR17 -Team B

Keep order in this joint? Sure! Lymond is up! I'm still away though and can't get an internet connection on the laptop while the ipad has no civ4, grumble. :p

Great captaincy nocho :). Keep up the good work :goodjob:.

What yall think about getting out a couple more cities? Copper/rice and cow/horse.

Brief Plan:

1) Get another worker out of Wash (1t). I think we need more.
2) Move all non-MP Gren towards SE of Wash for move on barb city.
3) Look to speed up Steam a few turns
4) Continue improving cities. Start road to Barb city.
5) Couple of Trebs for barb city

We need to think about when to run Golden Age, civic switch, religion? I think not quite yet as Serf is still useful at the moment. Might want to run Theo and Nationalism as we get close to turn 50. I think we want to hit someone almost immediately. Likely Portugal.

What about trading Steam for what is likely someone getting Sci Meth soon, then pushing on to Comm for SP. We can probably trade for Steel as long as we don't adopt a religion.

Okay...I went ahead and played. Had to knock this one out before preseason NFL action.

Summary:

1) Levees up in most cities. I was able to push Steam up a few turns and traded for Sci Meth with Asoka.
2) GE popped in Boston on last turn, which may be the best place to build it. Boston has ridiculous hammers now - more than any city
3) Received this timely event in Boston, which was great really as the Taj in Lisbon was putting extreme pressure on Boston...we could have lost tiles:

4) Captured barb city in SW. Only lost a treb I sacrificed against the city. Left one Gren there and moving rest of troops back up north.
5) A few AIs are in Emanc and we are starting to feel it as we grow. I plugged in a few happy building - most in 1t.

I say we get in Comm and use the GA for a civic switch. Not sure we should even go Religion or maybe briefly for some Theo. I'd rather stay in Caste if we can avoid Emanc. We may not even need the draft. Possibly US once we get Ass Line.

Portugal is in fist mode. Not sure if they will attack Cathy or us, but we should attack Portugal first anyway for multiple reason. We will want a few Rifles mixed in for support against their Cavs.

Take Cathy and Wash and then move SW.

9 turns until blast off, so other than SoL in Boston and and levee in Philly, we really need to be amassing troops near Philly. We could attack from N of Gold to stay in forest. Another thought is to use Philly for SoL, so that we can keep troop focus near the front.

only 9 turns before party begin?
the north barbarian city is not on a hill, it will be very easy to crack it in the waiting period.

before communism, don't we need steel or, less likely, assembly line? that would have get my preference.

for the rest, good job :)

I'm up?

I think the save is missing though.

A save? You're just being sensible .

Yummy cannons, yes please :mischief:.

Crap...sorry about the save. Attached above.

If we can get the Gspy from Comm, we can steel (sic) steel. Plus, SP will be huge and we can switch with a golden age.

The captain is pleased with the turnset as far as he really can judge without being able to look at a save and confirms strijder is up, himself on skip and iirc astre on deck. :)

Received the save, going to bed though. Playing tomorrow unless I completely forget about this.

Can someone recap me the tactics for this round? I'm going to read the previous posts tomorrow, but a summary/step-to-stepplan would be nice, as I'm not that good a player (floating between Monarch and Emperor).

With the help of the Great Engineer, we finish the statue of this damsel:

Lovely how much synergy it has with Representation.

I also send some troops to this barbarian city. It used to be guarded by three rifles, but nice Lincoln took two of them out and the city was captured without losses.

I quite like this look of the demographics screen. This game shouldn't be too difficult.

Our little force is sent towards Lisbon, using the forests as cover. Not quite a stack of doom, but it should be enough.

Cathy and Washington number 5 and six of the list? That's great :D

Cathy tries tricking me into a 10 turn peace treaty, but I thwarted her dastardly plan.

Washington planted this city in our face, the question is whether to keep it or not. A rifle, Gren and two trebs are on their way.

Lisbon is very lightly guarded, should be no problem.

About micromanagement and build orders and the like: I'm not really a micromanagement person, I'm afraid  Build orders were mainly Rifles and a few banks near the end of the turn ( we ran out of gold). I also put Boston on Research focus to shave two turns off communism. Also continued building workshops and watermills.

What will we do with the New York Scientist? I assume we'll use the GSpy for a GA. Will we build an academy (very likely not worth it) or partially bulb physics (Airships )?

Very good job :)
did we have just won alreay?

the small army on the gold mine can take the small portugese city and the big stack the capital without any problem.

we have lost the race to the great spy of comunism, so do not count on it for GA.
However, i agree to part bulb physic, but more for electricity that for physic (the Great scientist of physic could be interesting, but i don't see us win this race)

theother options would be to look for infantry or canons...

k will play as soon as we all agree to the science objectives. the rest is very straith forward: kill kill kill.

Not bad. Not sure about the builds though. We should be focused almost exclusively on units, including mustering up a secondary force to take on another front.

Too bad about Comm, but SP will still be highly beneficial. I'd say use the GS on a GA for the SP Civic switch plus any others.

Primarily build Gren and Trebs with a Rifle or two for support (anti-mounted).

We could chop out a settler down in that old barb city and fill in some spots. It would not be a bad idea to grab some horse for a Cav or two to take out cannons and stray units.

We need to keep the war machine going. We should take out Lisbon ok, but our attack could stall without more guys.

for civil switch, i presume you talk about change to nationhood, comunism and free religion?
(police state whould be fine in distant future)

I'll play tonight.
if you have anything you want me to do, you have 5 hours before i play the set.

Go for it! :D

I'm at the airport home bound, so I could take next set. Next week I'll be gone again...

I played until Portuguese was no more.
This war was cake walk; we lost 1 grenadier and 2 trebuchets during this false war.
The enemy was just not present.
Therefore, I focused more on buildings that on units as i already knew that I had too much for this war.

We gained a general that I used for super medic on an explorer.

If you open this save, you will notice that Catherine of holy German empire is willing for vassalage to us. That means that if we attack her, there is a high possibility she will vassal someone else.
Of course there is also the possibility that we vassal her. That needs to be discussed.

On science, I started with assembly line before I spawn another great scientist. I swap to physic and part-bulb it immediately. I really think we can win this race.

On to the civics…
I wait until communism became online, use the GS for GA and change to :
Nationhood, state property, free religion and emancipation.
I drafted a set of riflemen asap and propose we draft another set of riflemen on lasts turns of the GA then change civic on the last turn to something else: vassalage seems interesting.

I stoped here mostly because of the new born settler.
His settlement should be discussed but I'm for a settlement on the river and the coast near navajo grabing the rice and a spice.
the horse slot is useless as we will get horses in 1-2 turns in portugese lands.

In my opinion, this game is over, the rest is only make up. The IA didn't built enought troops and will fall one by one very quickly.
The lasts will maybe be prepared but it's too late, we are 2 times as large as any of them and probably 4 when we will meet them :/
