RR9 - A man's castle it's his home

I'm fine with settling in place, but I'd rather go 1SE and save the corn for another city. This too would save our capital the needed levee.. Ok we'd loose a turn.. but well are we in a hurry to get some early wonders?

im anxious to see if there's any late warring ~ if you get into a modern era war, i think u guys are toast, no?

Nope, we're not. SAM Infantry, Fighter Jets, Artillery and maybe even ICBMs will make sure of that.

@pholk

As pointed, we have enough todeal with the world even in a modern war if we play it right ... we even have the advantage of not having to tech a lot of the techs that enable most of the modern units, so we are even with a slight advantage :D

@ team

So far I've seen 3 options for settling: in place, 1 SE and 1 S. We need to decide on one of them ...

As for me I'm fine with either of them as BFC , and probably we would be slightly better with settling in place because we will not lose a turn moving. But I will not opose to settle anywhere else , if the team wants to....

I think settling in place would be the best option at this point.

Ok, I was going to hear the voice of the majority and settle SE when i noticed a smal detail ( check the starting spot pic ) : 3S 2E of the current settler position is a water tile ( we can see the river mouth next to it ) and if we settle SE we would have a most likely unimprovable coast tile in the cap BFC. So I decided to settle in place:

It is both good to be the king and to be right :p

I also took the executive decision of starting with mining. We have agri from the civ , so our worker will have something to do, even if it is mining the marble/sheep .

Anyway, I found our nearest neighbour very, very close

As you can see, both close and with some good land between both of us. We will need to move fast or he will close us in a corner.

Anyway, t8 comes and budhism is founded. it didn't took long to discover who was the culprit:

Religious nut, check. Berserk , check. Starting in a corner of the continent, check :mischief:

I decided to play onto the worker came out. Some pics:

Our starting warrior is healing from a lion attack ( nothing serious ) .

I think it is imperative to put a settler out fast. We have good land for it, but both Izzy and Ragnar should be close enough to box us if we don't move fast enough ( especially the later ) and even if we settle fast out we might still need to open path via axe/sword/something. So, it is imperative IMHO to finish BW and chop a settler out as soon as possible . We might even consider to try to capture Rag's cap if we find metals close enough to allow a axe rush, no?

So, Thy is UP, nocho is on deck..

Well I was in a SP game the other day where she founded nothing, NOTHING I tell you!!!!! Mwa, ha, ha, ha, ah. I founded Confused and converted my continent but went cultural when I should have gone to space.

Sounds good! Sounds imperative, I might add! :p

I'm in the process of changing places and will likely not have my civ comp and civ time available until Sunday. So better skip me or move me down the roster.

Seems there's not much to discuss.. Only some scouting while growing Istanbul.
Just two questions to talk about: How fast do we want to get out our first settler? In case we'll need him nearly immediately I'd go for a settler even at size two. Otherwise I'd farm the single FP and grow to size four while building warriors just to be able to whip and chop two settlers within our next set.
Techwise I'd finish BW and depending on whether there's copper nearby go on with AH or masonry.
