S-05 Beat the Clock

Another change of mind: West Point may not even be worth it. 25 turns of building is not really worth it in a city that already has 1 (or is it 2?) military instructors. I think we should cancel this, as I would much rather have the 4 cannons and 4 infantry we can build instead.

I hadn't made a city round, so I'd not checked any of the buildings. Generally, I don't rate the return West Point, so I'd be minded to cancel it anyway.

As we've started on Physics, I'll complete it and then see whether we need to self-research Coporation, or whether can trade it in.

Hi, i am back from my trip, but won't be able to play yet as i am still waiting on my CD/DVD player.
Sorry.

Apologies, I had a bucks and wedding this weekend.

I won't be able to play until tomorrow, so feel free to skip/swap. (I have found that I disappoint in sg if I play while drunk :D)

A VERY uneventful TS. I tried not to whip anything, and tried to get cities onto growth. Most builds were artillary, with some navy thrown in... I like to have a navy to bombard and scout, and Vic will need some fending off in this sense. There are canals on each land bridge (even the American one), so these can get around prety well, and there's no sign of a modern navy elsewhere. In particular, there are 3 frigates from Neapolis which can go thru LA to hassle Vics north, and a small force between ex spain and arabia which could head to the south.

AL is due, and we have about 8 turns till the war begins, so you might have to complement the existing stacks with infantry (I didn't group them too strategically, just collected what was around). Cash was being saved for AL, and I noticed that Vic wouldn't attack Washo for up to about 5500g... so I have no idea how much it would take....I couldn't wait any longer to get AL.

The highly promoted cav is scouting England, where there is SAMs and artillary, but there doesn't seem to be a great deal of defence apart from London and York.

If you need workers, look for them sleeping in the countryside at each clockpoint.

Stuge,

All your screenshots come up on my computer as little white boxes with red X's in them. Is there some problem with the site you uploaded them to?

Strange, photobucket should be working just fine.

Anyone else have any problems with my picks?

Stuge is up.

Newcastle and Liverpool are Vicky's only source of oil and they aren't connected. She doesn't have uranium either, so we won't have to worry about destroyers.

Swiss: Can you explain what you meant by saving some money up for Assembly line? We would have had it much earlier if we has been running maximum science.

Also did we miss out on the chance to trade for railroad from FDR?

Stuge: Next turn I suggest starting on a lot of drafting. We have over 30 cities so that should hopefully translate to over 30 free infantry over the next 10 turns. Utica can be drafted from every 3-4 turns or so.

Other things:

Wall street in Rome doesn't look worth it.
Work the rice at Mansura
Muscat and Basra both need work boats
I set some cities that needed border pops to build culture on my turn. They are still building culture after their pops after 2 more turnsets! That's a bit lazy team, we need to mm our cities more often than that (ie more than never).
Glad to see our blitz+commando cav is still alive :).

OK, nevermind. I'm on a different computer now, and Stuge, your screenshots are fine. It must have been something to do with the connection I was on.

Hmm.. I always check MMing on my first turn (at least), so don't know how this slipped thru, but have noticed sometimes that when I change out of infinite builds in the city screen, then go back to the standard game map, it hasn't changed.... wierd.

The old binary science to gain from rounding errors... I don't usually use it because I forget to turn it back on. In this case, tho, I didn't turn it back on on purpose, because I wanted to find out if vic would declare for us. It maybe added 2-3 turns, but at least now we have some upgrade cash.

 As is The Destroyer. Make sure he gets upgrded to artillery!! :hammer:

Binary science, but as Sweetacshon explained, he took some extra turns at zero science than actually needed in order to fund upgrades. We'd run out of cash by the end of my turnset and we didn't have anything to trade Roosy for Rails during my turns.

Are you sure you're looking at the cities you founded? I'm sure I started buildings in those cities! I founded another city north of Barca and had it on culture in order to connect Sicca(?) so we could chain-irrigate Sicca's grasslands. Unless culture building got shoved down the queue rather than out of it altogether in the cities you founded, but I'd need to check the save(s).

So, drafting and being creative, eh?

Rough jobs for a rough man.
