S&T PBEM Discussion Thread

BTW fellow civers who couldn't enlist for this game/story: There are still 6 AI players left with us, and with the option 'Take Over AI', anyone may take their places if wanted (well at least while they are alive). So feel free to ask to join the game

Hey, you forgot to add me to the list.

So fellow civers:

The Pitboss is a success!!!

I'll have to go now, but I'll be back in 2 hours. The game will remain online, and should keep this status for as long as nothing wrong happens. So if something wrong happens please post here and I'll see what happened.

If I have to shut it down for a reason I'll tell here and display the time I mean to get it back working.

What time do we meet everyday?

I Propose the No Dickery Pact

All proposals only apply between humans

1. No complete wipeouts! If someone comes to you and offers you alot for peace take it. Also use vassalage. If you refuse to offer peace and you get killed it is your own fault. If someone is a vassal do not demand many things. Be the kind lord who protects, not takes.

2. No excessive griefing with soldiers, privateers, or spies etc.

3. If someone is getting the crap kicked out of them we need to somewhat help them.

4. No ganging up on one player. It is not fair if powerhouses gang up and divide the little opponent.

So I'm back err... 3 (actually 4 because it took me 1 hour to post this) hours later, and where is Moai? did he got sleepy today? His civ is waiting. Noyyau will probably come 6 hours later so tomorrow afternoon we may start next turn already.

Oh BTW I'll create a new House Rule of Procedure now because it'll be for the best of the Pitboss:
House Rule N°1

Except for the 1st Turn*, I'll keep my turn not passed for us to have a type of control on the turn flux by the beginning of the game. This rule is to be discussed and reviewed when most players agree it's time to move to a more standard turntimer rule for game reasons.

*
Spoiler :
(which I accidentally kicked myself from the game with the Pitboss (:borg:) and this automatically gave my civ to an AI, which did me the favor of choosing everything on 1st turn and pass the turn for me)

This is for the reason that even though there is a turn timer, if every player passes the turn the turn is automatically passed.

And this give us 2 situations:

- In the beginning where the turns are shorter and go fast, if by case we are all online at the same time we may progress the game faster, which will happen anyways;

- If someone is counting that the turn timer will end by some hour and it's the only time they will get to the game, if everybody passes the turn before the timer, the person may not get in time to make their next turn without a note;

So because of that having a better control of the time suits to be made by the pitboss player (if things get buggy and stuff).

But I see that when the game gets more developed we will have to change turn passing rules because it has to be accorded between each player. (and turn manipulation may turn to advantage - turn turning :crazyeye: )

Time Turning Manipulation #1- Play late at night when nobody else is playing to clock out the timer so your the only one who's done anything! :mwaha:

I, baseballpie, hereby do formally sign the No Dickery Pact.

Ok so Hamachi seems to work, trying BtS now

Edit: Works! :D

Never seen such a start! Bountiful resources.
Anyway, at some point it said that my BtS version is different from the host's. I have 3.19, but I honestly can't remember if I ever messed with BtS's xmls.

Edit 2: Apparently I'm on Noble difficulty. Any way to change that? (Bump it up to Prince or Monarch)

Edit 3: So I went and made a fresh install of BtS just in case

Now we just need Moai and Noyyau to sign it :D

Spirictum, check your messages

You are all going to hate me for this, but:
Why the rule that says you have to help people if I'm beating the snot out of them they're being attacked and losing? War is the way to two of the five victory conditions we have enabled.

The idea is to actually don't force someone out of the game early. And if possible not out at all, but that doesn't force you to abdicate on wars.

Take a vassal instead of a complete kill is a good way of solving problems (and vassals help on both Conquest and Domination victories, so I'm fine with it).

With many people playing for the first time and thrilled with this game, it would be an extreme dickery to drop them early (like I find someone's empty first city on the game in 3 turns and my warrior enters removing that player once and for all!)

Don't worry about AIs. The pact says it's between humans only
