yes i like scenarios! scenario is much more enjoyable than normal game, and fan-made scenarios are usually not that good

I don't play scenarios on games without a campaign system. When playing Civ though, I don't like scenarios. Advertising scenarios to me is simply like putting movie previews on a DvD disc that I can skip past to the title menu. To me the epic game is the feature presentation.

As far as I am concerned, they could stop making scenarios all together and it wouldn't effect me personally at all.

Expansions are the reason I plan to buy the expansion. The epic game is great as it is in vanilla, and the cost to buy an expansion just for the epic game upgrades isn't worth it to me.

The historical aspect of the scenarios is what I like most. It makes the game seem more real. I'm hoping the Beyond the Sword scenarios are similar in style to Conquests. The Afterworld scenario doesn't look like one I'll play much, but I don't mind if they include one of this type to show off the modding capabilities. I'm hoping the rest are all historical.

i think the scenarios are great. sometimes a epic game would take too much time, and a scenario is a nice change of pace. i especially look forward to a Civil War era scenario which i assume is in there.

one thing... can you play a scenario multiplayer? i tried the other day on the LAN to play American Revolution, but we could only get the map and not the unique gameplay and units. it does not make much sense to have scenarios and not be able to play multiplayer imo.

I really don't care sbout scenarios at all.
The only interesting thing about them is the extra stuff made specially for them that I can mod into the epic game.
The stuff for the epic game is for me enough to buy the expansion.
Scenarios I never play and probably never will.
But I understand there in the expansion packs because a lot of people buy them especially for those.
I think Firaxis is doin' it's best to please both groups.
And the reason there is a 2nd expansion pack at all is maybe because a lot of people bought the 1st because of it's scenarios.
So I can live with the scenarios as long as the epic game gets a lot of new stuff too.

As a Civ modder, I must say that I'd rather see an expansion include new Civs, techs, and units as the main focus. If additional content was to be added, I'd rather see an EDITOR than a scenario. Why open-script the game for people to mod it, then add your own scenarios? Most people shrug them off and do their own or just play the (highly replayable) epic game. An editor (even a basic one like Civ3) would add much more content.

I love scenarios, but the ones in Warlords weren't done very well IMO. Civ III had some really fun ones, but Civ II had AWESOME scenarios.

I think I played the U.S. Civil War Scenario a dozen times.

When I got Civ III Conquests, I didn't know how to download scenarios (never heard of civfanatics) from anywhere else, so getting it as soon as possible was big to me. I still now think they do, since you can't really play the scenarios anywhere else, unless someone ever tries converting them down an expansion pack or two.

I haven't played any scenarios since Civ III. I've been put off playing them since then because I found the terrain too poorly developed, and spent more time building workers than getting on with the scenario. I haven't tried any civ IV scenarios, I just enjoy a good long epic (or in my case marathon) game.

For me it really depends on the scenario. If they are just going to make a half-arsed scenario using units from the epic game, then I'll pass thanks. Those are easy enough to mod in, even for amatuers. Total conversion scenarios and mods would be ok though, as they are harder for people to make, and would be much more refreshing than only a slight variance on gameplay. But if they don't want to do that, then the epic game should be focused on and expanded a lot.

I only play the scenarios. the historikally inacurate starts of being persia with christianity in 4000bc with naigbours of ghandi and napoleon put me off playing anything BUT scenarios and pre made maps

I like scenarios because they can be historically accurate and I don't like to take the time to create my own.

Good historical scenarios are always welcome. But not boring ones, or badly planned scenarios.

Have anyone seen any forests in a Warlord's Alex the Great scenario? That map unbelievable dull! I'm glad it crashes after a first turn in my computer... Don't know why, and don't care.

I've never played a scenario - random for me every time - so they do little for me in an expansion pack. However, a lot of people do enjoy them, so ultimately I don't really mind. And who knows? I might feel the urge to take the plunge one day!

Me neither. Who needs scenarios anyways?

Aw Com'on Shigga! You must be new blood. Obviously you havn't played the ones in Conquests. They were really good. Youve just been be jaded with what youve seen so far. It can get better, Im all about Epics but you can't judge all scenarios based on your exp with 'Omens'

No sorry, and ether do I , but that fantastic reply had me keeling over. Sure sums up many attidudes with those scenarios though

ADD: Just so some of you don't think Im taking another fine opp for dumping on Civ4 again, Ive already explained on my 1st post why BtS's sceanarios will be far better receieved. :)

Sometimes I like playing some different so the scenarios are fun. I am a big history buff so I love even the crappy ones, despite that I admit they are crappy.

The warlords scenarioes were disappointing especially since I loved the premise of many of them. They were still playable but they were not awesome like the ones in Civ II and Civ III.

However I will agree that there needs to be a lot of add ons to Epic in order to make the expansion worth it.

I hate scenario's. I will still buy any expansion though, because when I'm into a game, I can't stand the idea I don't have everything available ;)
