Interesting... that made me notice that the borders on the mini-map now also include water hexes. Not sure if I like that. It used to annoy me that I could not see my true border on the mini-map in CiV, but just realized looking at the above screenshot that I could not tell that the city was on a coastal tile.

I agree, actually I really don't like the minimap in Civ 6 right now. Civ 5 wasn't great because you couldn't see anything but I got used to it and I really want the more "atlasy" look

Don't worry yet, there may still be hope. The Map now has lens, commonly known as overlays, it is very possible one of these may give you a better view of the landmasses, etc.

It's likely that certain actions or improvements may require a beach instead of a cliff, or vice-versa.

Note how the waves are crashing against the cliffs. It's a nice touch. Animation may add a lot to the relatively simplistic graphics.

Seems certain from the additional screenies that the condition for cliffs is "coastal hills".

What icon are Cerilis and Eagle Pursuit referring to?

The resource icons on the bar at the top of the screen.

It would be interesting if Wheat was somehow a strategic resource.

Oil Can?

Looks like meat to me. It's Rice, Wheat, Meat and Horsehead on a plate.

A healthy mix of food products. :P

One thing I wonder is why did they make all the forests coniferous. And about the rainforests, the palm trees don't seem right either. There are quite little palms in jungles opposed to the traditional cartoonish portrayal... Rather than rainforest plants, palms are trees of arid terrain.
