The dark hexagon background gives the icon faux depth and makes it look 3D and like a gas can. But we should look at it without the hexagon background.
Paper isn't a bad guess, actually
Or maybe some kind of sugar?
Mystery icon:
I think it's this thing(I don't know English word for it) where you grind spices with in this bowl with a small mace. Spice mortar it's called I think?
p.s. Remember a time when we couldn't analyze games before release, we just bought them because a friend's big brother said it's good?
I also remember myself looking at box art of the original X-Com game and going "naaah.. looks lame".
Agree on this, to me its a quill in a inkwell ontop of a piece of paper. So it might be Paper or Ink. Maybe even Dye - possibly from the mysterious flat flowers we saw in one of the first screenshots?
Don't worry yet, there may still be hope. The Map now has lens, commonly known as overlays, it is very possible one of these may give you a better view of the landmasses, etc.
Well, the fog of war is applied to the mini-map too. Maybe that was not a good idea, because the mini-map becomes unclear. But applying the lenses to the mini-map, at least for some lenses, would be useful.
The zoomed out screen looks amazing, and districts seem to integrate more naturally that I expected with the city center. I'm sure @nyyfootball will disagree soon enough of course.
@Arioch, thanks for your analysis, for those that haven't heard, he constantly updates this webpage with any news, official or extrapolated from the screenshots: http://well-of-souls.com/civ/civ6_overview.html
Well I think he mentions strategies because iirc those icons are from the Hattusa screenshot, who's level 6 bonus confers one copy of each strategic resource you've discovered. The there's only one copy of the paper coffee oil.
But rice/wheat is already being tracked so we can extrapolate that they definitely do track all resources.
I think the concept of luxury resources has changed to amenties. This kind of broadens the scope of what they can be applied to and makes more sense why your want to track it. For example, we know amenities are required per city to help growth. What if you had a surplus that allowed you to apply the extra copy to any city you have or sell? This is speculation but since global luxuries don't make sense but a system where you trade amenities within your own cities does makes sense.
