Terraria. Not even once.

How many new things are they adding to Terraria? And do you have to google everything still, or is there more in-game explanation of things you can collect and craft and summon and stuff? Last time I played the game was probably a year ago, got slightly addicted really, but got bored of it due to the lack of direction.

A lot of the stuff you first notice is just a kinda reskins (copper-tin, iron-lead, silver-?tungsten?, gold-platinum, the corrupted - blood place, ect.), but there is a lot of real new stuff as well. None of the stuff changes the base game, but it is enough to make you feel like you are playing an extension with a lot of new enemies, npcs and items.
If you were slightly addicted to it to the past I would recommend giving it a look, unless you really object to its lack of direction which it still has.

They added 1000+ new things with additional NPC skins (some with additional items), new bosses, replacement biomes, more biomes, more vanity items, better dyeing. You can walk up one tile blocks now so you don't have to jump (yay staircases), you can increase your max health with an item in hard mode now (no clue what it is), there are a bunch more NPCs, you can make half blocks... A lot of new content, really. While Hoplite is right that a lot of it is just reskins and additions based on pre-existing blocks or items, it still feels new. To me, at least.

As for the replacement ores, there's only a chance of it occurring in your world, and if I recall correctly, there are some items that specifically require a replacement ore. I know the unique ore for the Crimson can build a sword that is equal to the Light's Bane but is different.

wargaming isn't going to have combined arms, BigWorld engine simply won't support it.

ETA: PS4 release (Nov.)

Ah, that's disappointing. Guess I'll stick to Planetside and Warthunder, when it comes out in November.

Well, looks like the war will be over by Christmas.

Game-mechanics-wise, it looks like I wiped out a small detachment and the main Confederate army (with over 20,000 troops) did not engage. I captured all the guns the traitors stole at Norfolk too! :w00t:

What game is that? And is it on Steam? It looks fun.

I didn't get it through Steam, don't know if AGEOD has anything on there since they broke off their collaboration with Paradox Interactive a year ago.

It's called Civil War II and is the most recent 2013 remake of one of AGEOD's core titles American Civil War. It's a strategic/operational level, turn-based, simultaneous-execution wargame (so you and the AI put in marching orders for two weeks, then your generals try to execute them and you wait and see what happens--no TW-style battlemaps).

And yes it is fun! It has absorbed my gaming time as of late, along with KSP. :)

This would be a pretty interesting game if the British and French did intervene: I've been winning the war in Virginia (including reducing the Confederate Army at Manassas), making progress in Kentucky, pushing holding the wild Confederate raids in Missouri and Kansas, captured New Orleans and three Confederate ironclads under construction, and so on.

However, the foreign intervention meter, largely due to the escalation of the Trent Affair, is now at 74/100. If it hits 100, irrelevant of how sucky the Confederates are doing in the field, the British and French will enter the war. If the Confederates agree to trade and territorial concessions (giving up the Florida Keys to Britain amongst others), they could gain another 15-20 FI points instantly and there is nothing I could do to block it.

I made sure to order another 9 monitors and 2 armored frigates the moment the news was received. I need as many armored ships as possible to withstand the might of the European navies.
