I think thats the biggest difference with playing without immigration, in your game, the year is 1999, in mine its 2207 or something, and my population is quite a lot smaller, when you commit to the slower paced game of nurturing your population up naturally you have a lot of time to plan your new developments carefully and go over board on gardens, fountains and palm trees to add that extra character while you wait for your workforce to FINALLY grow big enough to fill all the jobs you created. To me it gives a nice slow paced game good for watching films and stuff in the background.

That does seem like a really cool experiment, especially because I love how your towns turned out. They look so real compared with the messy sprawl when you have to house hundreds of people every couple months.

Do your high school students have a problem with discipline?

I forced them to write "I will not kill El Presidente" on the chalk boards over and over again :p

Escorting formations of bombers is probably the most fun I've had with anything in years.

Thanks, I ended up buying Modern times as well as the plantation dlc. The rest seem a bit.. silly.

A few of them have their uses. Vigilante adds labor camps, which are like prisons only the prisons grow crops. The Junta DLC adds bunkers, which is an incredible way of getting a lot of soldiers without first getting the arsenal and hiring generals. Of course, there's a relationship penalty with the Militarists for having too many soldiers versus generals, and I think there might be an effectiveness penalty, but I found the bunker useful in a pinch.

The Metropolis DLC added a large, cheap public housing option that has better quality than tenements (but costs $2000 more) and holds more people at the cost of having to renovate it every so often for $3,500 to get its quality back up to snuff.

To each his own I suppose though. I don't care much for the Voodoo building, but I also don't do tourism often.

I like how the Rum distillery is located next to the college campus.... Way to simplify your logistics chain.

Anyways, here's a few new Soul Calibur V customs:

L-R: Another Sister of Battle (Warhammer 40K), Angry Space Marine (Warhammer 40K/4-Chan), and Frieda, a geder-flipped version of Siegfried.

Speaking of Warhammer 40K, I just took advantage of GamersGate's holiday sale and bought the complete edition of Dawn of War... I may be posting screenshots of that soon.

What did you think of the 1.37 update?

The new tiering system of kind of neat, but I feel like the research is broken. Its going to take the same amount of battles to unlock my Tier 3 Hien as it would have to unlock several planes in the old system. I've kind of stopped playing because of it.

Yeah, it's pretty terrible unless you had premium planes stockpiled (got my Tiffy 1B/Late in like 6 matches with nonpremium account but flying Mustang Mk. I)

Overall still very fun they just need to buff RP gain

2x today for all day btw, good day to put some time in (though the fact that I'm using that phrase to describe a game is just wrong on many levels)

Yeah, it still is pretty fun, the turning buff for Japanese planes is borderline ridiculous, I just don't like feeling like I'm not accomplishing anything.

And heh, that's how I treat Planetside as well. (flare gun's on sale today, gotta put some work in to get to 1000 certs!)

So I've been playing Imperium Romanum a bit. Playing on the Alexandria map (because you don't have to worry about fires, riots or disease as well as having a constant supply of construction materials), I present the city of Alexandria! Population 300-ish, Chief exports: marble, oil, anti-Roman sentiment. These are from different points in time, taken as I went along.
First an image from the forum. This is part of the old city, in the sense that building placement here is purely for resources. In this area you can find the circus and philosopher's academy.

Next, the second part of the city to have been built - Colonia Lapidem. Originally a small marble quarry village it quickly grew to the largest part of the city, supplying olive oil, wine, and was the first part to be walled off.

The city Amphitheater was originally built outside of the walls of Colonia Lapidem, but quickly got its own urban congregation.

Originally built as a military fort, this part of the city forms the larger part of the marble and gold mining business. It also houses the armies that removed the barbarians from the area.

A tiny outpost outside of Colonia Lapidem.
Spoiler :

a small colony for woodcutting, with an even smaller one down the road.

Originally I was going to build a large city part here, but the terrain was too steep for that. Instead I built a few tiny villages, and roleplayed that all barbarians where moved there. Meanwhile, the blob on the small peninsula is similar but built to accomodate hundreds of settlers. these areas are both not supplied with anything people actually need and as such are home to endless protests against me.

Playing as Brabant, going quite well so far however France is in a PU with Austria so Europe could get a little messy. Manpower is the biggest issue though as at one point recently my army was down to 2k strength with mercenaries making up the difference.

....pray to god. if france gets into the Empire, pray to god.

because if they do. and they inherit austria...

Better hope for all that is holy it doesnt become the HRE.

that is the road to pure and other pain.

And if that wasnt bad enough....they might do a HRE unification.

that will end for good all your aspirations to greatness if you don't start NW colonization soon.

For completeness...

In the end Austria did inherit France and they even got cores on all the territory but just as that happened they went to war with Aragon and that was my opportunity. That war saw them lose Paris and the surrounding area whilst this screenshot is after the second war where they were initially at war with Aragon, Poland, Savoy and Portugal when I joined the fun. I own Mexico and Norway is in a PU. Most of France is independant and I'm tempted to leave it that way to see if anyone comes out on top.

Inspired by Domen, I'm busy liberating Poland from their cruel and oppressive local government. This battle is quite remarkable since it is one of the largest battles I've seen in Revolution Under Siege, and has among the greatest casualties:

Had a 6:1 artillery and 3:1 manpower advantage, and with that managed to inflict 3 times the casualties on the offense. Over 52,000 dead and wounded on a single day of battle.
