Second Orbis succession game

purge does not work as it should.

I am almost sure, that it works only in your cities (at least, I remember it doing so, but my memory may be bad)

war with Furia on demand from every partner we have.

Everybody else has RoK as religion.
Let's destroy her and send priest everywhere.

Yeah.
Especially, we should sent priests to Elohm lands - there are citiew without RoK

It's way too late to win a religious influence victory. There are many holy cities left and they will just keep spreading their religions. We may be able to win an altar victory after a very long time, but we need to concentrate on the correct techs and keep producing great priests.

We can also win a conquest victory.
With right tech, we can pemanantly ally with one of the most powerfull civs, for example

I didn't quite have time to finish my turns yet. I'll post tonight. I can tell you that we have destroyed three of Furia's cities and discovered theology from exploring Brandeline's Well.

I got to put this up earlier than I though. The main emphasis of these ten turns was beating up on the Balseraphs. I'm not really sure why, as it isn't going to help us win. But, oh well........ Perhaps extending the Khset empire will prove to be a good thing. I also noticed that after a few turns our priests were no longer able to cast inquisition in several of our friend's empires. I have no idea why, their civics don't prevent it. Some pretty pictures that illustrate a few more details.

A great sage is born. I use him to all but discover Divination.

We destroy the first of three Balseraph cities.

A great general is born and I use him to recruit. The recruits are almost all mounted.
Civ4ScreenShot0002.JPG

After a side trip of two turns we discover divination.

One of our scouting parties explores Brandeline's Well and discovers theology!
High priests are a good thing!

A patron of knowledge dies. We disperse the contents of his library to our wise men, rather than fund an addition to our library.

Corruption rears it's ugly head in Khazak. I decide to let the priests of Kilmorph deal with it.

I trade iron to Khset for sheep. It will help our health and hopefully he will move towards a permanent alliance. Besides it helps as we adopt vassalage and tolls on turn 299. Tolls avoids the hefty production penalty of agrarianism.

Long story short : See that guy ?

325priceforpeace0000.jpg

He now is happy with us, after I destroyed his capital and holy city....

I played more turns than usual because it was my manifest destiny to play te full sequence.

So :
first, I declare war to furia, who choose Ashen veil once more.
I trigger a war declaration from Khset, who had a defense pact.
(Since I did not declare to him, he still his friendly with us during the war.)

Considering his holy city ha been a pain in our... flank for ages, I decide to try and go for it.

I destroy Balseraphs Coombe city on my way, and Teocalli on turn 325.
Lost a few units, but nothing too bad.We now have peace with the Tlalac and clowns.

Bambur now has the Gela, and destroys 2 fortified beastmasters in a capital city a turn without sweating.

The bad thing is everybody else changed their religion... need to be corrected for religious victory.
conquest still is an option.

next player is up !

Wow.

As for religion changes - they are changing it back and forth. Without a reason, it seems.

I played a turn. With me it's real drudgery playing when I know we have no real chance of winning this game. The one thing that I did do was start working toward building Towers. I sent some workers both to the north and south to build forts. I also sent an adept to the west to build a node. We might want to research sorcery to try for a tower victory.

We can try, why not.
But I still believe that we should win through use of a force. And maybe aliance with someone
I will play today at evening, I hope

There is no way that we can win by use of force. We may be able to ride on another country's coattails and technically get a win, but what's the point of that?

Ok
so, we do not want to win as allies of a powerful civ.
But, I believe that if we try to destroy civs one by one, we can win. I also believe, that we will reach religious victory that way if we choose our targets right. If not, we can of course hope for Tower or Altar

Maybe the AI is stupid enough that we might be able to win a conquest victory. I don't know. Human players would simply settle again near the cities that have been destroyed.

Yeah, against humans we would be doomed.
But, against AI? Not necessarilly so.
We could also prevent re-settling. Fortunately, we have Guild of Nine and decent economy. By pillaging everything we should be able to support quite large army of mercenaries, backed up with our priests and heroes.
And Maros himself would be almost enough to defend our city

I still think this is a true long shot, even compared to Tower or Altar victories. Speaking of Maros, I'm surprised we haven't researched medicine and got Arthendain. He could probably hold our city by himself.

If I remember correctly, someone builds him already
