Sengir03 - The Orwellian State

I played ten turns last night. Playing the other five now. Zara is in WHEOOHRN right now, but he just opened borders with us, so maybe it's Washy or Sitty instead of us. Either way, I've got frigates building on the west coast so we can watch for the fleet.

I'll swap to Constitution now and put in a few turns until we can swap for it.

Update in a bit.

Do my eyes deceive me :wavey: is it Whosit?! Sorry to hear about RL being so taxing. Hope to see you around a little more.

Enjoy your birthday Brian Shanahan!

Oh I will!

Have we some caravels still. If so we should scout out ZY and see where his fleet is docking, and plan appropriately.

Big Sister's time as Administrator of the Orwellian Empire was a golden age of peace and prosperity. Citizens were so devoted to the empire, that despite the doubleplus ungood rise in workplace accidents (:whipped:), they joyfully devoted themselves to erecting new buildings across the Empire.

Towards the end of her time in office, Big Sister began a new program of workplace safety that promises to reduce these industrial accidents significantly. Oxford University and the National Epic were built, and the navy of the Western Seas was begun.

T325: Go through our cities and take everyone off buildings, since I plan to change to OR. All the baby cities who need border pops build culture, Seoul continues on it's university while farming a GP, three cities build Buddhist missionaries, and everyone else is on units or wealth. That gets research up to 40%, which is not great, but will have to do.

Juggled trade deals.

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0118.jpg

No.

Juggled units around, trying to get all our city raider guys back to the front, instead of on garrison duty.

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0119.jpg

Also, no.

T328: Chemistry is stolen :gripe: :cringe: Can I have a do-over?

Golden Age Starts! Swap civics, put all those buildings back in the queue, and :whipped:

Hmm... Zara is in WHEOOHRN, and we have no navy at all on our west coast. I start building frigates.

T329: Seoul finishes its university, so I start Oxford in Babylon.

37 turns to complete? Lets see... didn't Darius have stone?

Yes. Yes he did. Hehe... down to 21 turns. :)

Uh-oh... Emancipation unhappiness.

T330: Swap to Constitution for upcoming trade.

T332: Trade made with Darius. Back to Steel. Have to wait until next turn to swap civics.

Working the trades to keep happiness up. We just got our second silver online, so swap it for gold. I considered dyes, but we have more forges than theatres at the moment.

T333: Last minute whipping, with double stacked anger in some cities. Then swap to Caste/Rep. Wake up all the workers and start them on workshops.

T334: Steel is in. Start on cannons in several cities, as well as dropping slider to 0 in order to upgrade a few of our promoted trebs.

T335:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0121.jpg

No.

That's all folks!

I'll try posting just text for now and then add the pictures if the civfanatics servers hold up.

Save here
(external link, also because of servers)

One thing I forgot: We can probably cancel the stone trade since Oxford is done, and pick up another happiness resource instead.

I leave you with this final image:

The loneliest little galley. :(

Oh my no. Our citizens surely need us to continue to make decisions for them! We will watch over them from cradle to grave!

Yes you should you naughty, naughty cat.

lurker's comment: Woah too much testing not enough crazy. I am actually glad I declined to play it.

Well, my rehabilitation is finally complete. I am prepared to play. I have always been prepared to play. I am ready to serve Big Brother in the fullest capacity possible. I will look at the save this evening, and prepare a pre-game plan for the glory of Oceana. I take it that we are planning to cap the filthy Americans next.

There is only one thing I would like to know (I have meant to ask for awhile). IPEX, how do you set those reminders. They look very useful.

Alright, I'm poking around the save, just a few random notes. Please bear in mind that I am a bit tired, as I have spent the last several hours at a rally in Big Brother's honor, so if anything I say doesn't make sense, it is simply the euphoria.

When are we renaming the capital Airstrip One?

Since we're in nationhood, we should consider getting the Globe Theatre built somewhere. Sippar looks pretty good to me. We could build a Theatre after the Garden, and then the Globe. Farm over the village and forest for even more food, and soon enough, the proles won't be able to wait to join the ranks of the grand Oceanan army! Just in time for Rifles, too.

I would also make a general suggestion that we begin building more Banks, Markets, and Grocers in our cities. We are losing more at 100% science than we make at 100% gold, so binary research would be more efficient for us if we could reverse that.

Shall I spread the word of Big Brother to Washington immediately? I see we have twice his power, and I think that there are plenty of brave soldiers for me to capture America's core. What should be done about the icy island to the north, and Washington's colony far away in Ethiopia? Vassalize them? Ignore them? Conquer/burn them?

Are there any other special missions or objectives I should be aware of? I did catch up on the thread, but I may have missed some of the finer details.

Also, we have 21 cities, and will soon take on more. We have 19 workers. Will that be sufficient, or shall I build more? I realize that the American cities should already be developed, I just have a habit of keeping my Worker count higher than my city count most times.

I vote for the very turn we get flight. :D

Sounds good. The turnsets before mine were all about war, so a lot of building got neglected. Though there were some odd choices already in the queue when I started my set.

Go for it! There should be money enough for you to upgrade a few trebs to cannons. Just keep a watch on the seas for Zara launching an invasion fleet. We don't want to be caught by surprise if he's after us, or want him kill-stealing if he's after Washington or Sitting Bull.

Since Zara will be next after we wrap up our continent, vassalizing Washington to get a foothold is probably a good idea. Just make sure the continent is ours.

Are there any other special missions or objectives I should be aware of? I did catch up on the thread, but I may have missed some of the finer details.

I think the only real thing to remember is not to use any of the bottom line civics, and that once we do finish off the continent to declare on Zara, we stay at war until he's defeated. War Weariness? What's that? :mischief:

We'll get more workers from the war, and until lumbermills and railroads, there isn't much improvement to be done, aside from a few tile changeovers or sabotage repairs.

Good luck! :goodjob:

I vote no vassals as well, let him vassalize to someone else. Big Brother wants total control of all subjects.
