[NFP] September Update Video Discussion

Yeah but it's the same civilization... LSS is not able to build an Observatory and a Campus at the same time.

Plus, it's too different to be an Encampment. Even in other Unique Districts, the place of buildings stay the same. It looks like a Unique Districts, just we have to know which kind of buildings would fit in it :)

My guess would be that Gauls'UI would be an Industrial Zone replacement that can defend itself too

yeah sorry, I just realized how different the two look... so one's clearly an encampment (the top one) and the other a new district.,..

Byzantium focused on conquest and faith would likely be Justinian. Or Basil II Bulgaroktonos, if Firaxis aknowledged the other 1000 years of Byzantine existence other than Justinian and Theodora's reign :mischief:

Love the two new civs, extremely disappointed in the new game mode. Hate to say the word "gimmick," but...

If this is their definition of 'more historical game modes', I think I will just stop caring about the modes at this point. They clearly seem to just be some modifiers you add to a game when you want a 'crazy' game, rather than proper expansions of the game's gameplay.

I'm very disappointed we didn't get a proper third expansion at this point. It seems pretty clear that the niggling issues with VI's end game will not really be fixed, unless the free updates suddenly change dramatically in their extent.

I don't think Firaxis would choose Vitalstatistix, the Gaulish chief in the Asteric books : )

was thinking exactly the same thing... is that his name in english ? I've only read them in french, and the name is ABRARACOURCIX... I thought they kept the same names in translations ;-)

Gaul Unique District looks like an Encampment of sorts, but it doesn't replace the regular Encampment, you can see both at the same time

Since Aduatuca, the name of one/several Gallic forts, is Gaul's capital in the video, an Encampment-like unique building/district seems fit.

Another cool-sounding game mode brought down by poor design decisions.

The more powerful effects of Dark and Golden ages are good, but when it's at the cost of losing dedications, Normal and Heroic ages, it's just never gonna be played. It's a more binary and less interesting mode as a result.

They should have just boosted the effects of each age type and otherwise kept it the same.

IMPORTANT: GAULS' UNIQUE DISTRICT IS DEFINITELY AN INDUSTRIAL ZONE REPLACEMENT

It's an habit for Unique Districts to still have the same building slots for them (except Phoenicia's Cothon, but Mali's Suguba follows this rule). And look how familiar the slot of Gauls'UD are similar to those on a regular Industrial Zone. The most flagrant is the slot for the Powerplant.

So an IZ replacement that can defend itself and might produce additional culture? Dunno, but it's definitely an IZ.

I've updated the Features Thread with all the new additions, please let me know if I have missed anything

So what we know:
- Gauls have unique Improvement or district as someone has noticed (can shot the units like cities with walls or military districts)
- Gaul leader will have a unique animation
- Gauls will be focused on culture with a strong military
- The Byzantines UU is Dromon
- The Byzantines focused on religion and expansion
- Two new World Wonders: early game Statue of Zeus gives free military units and increases production toward anti-cavalry units. Late-game Biosphere ( kinda wood and swamp Petra) increase the appeal of rainforest and marsh titles in GS increase power and Tourism in other DLC provides science on a marsh, rainforest, and forest titles
- New map type the highlands for culture/national parks game
- New game mode Dramatic Ages based on Dark/golden Eras
- Era score surplus in golden ages will be converted to increased loyalty pressure
- In the dark ages, cities will immediately rebel
- Instead of dedications golden and dark policies.
- Loyalty pressure from the era score will depend on the difficulty level.
- Georgia buff (only with a new game mode)

Well that also looks like the slots for where the Entertainment Complex buildings go. But that district doesn't look entertaining at all.

I think that the Byzantine leader has a medium-length grey beard. They didn't really make it easy to upscale it this time ;)

Also, GAUL??? That's goosebumps for me, even though I'd like to finally have my Portugal.
